According to Cancer Research UK, almost 3200 new cases of Cervical Cancer are diagnosed each year, roughly a quarter of which are fatal. The incidence and mortality rates have fallen drastically since the mid 90's, but there is still more work to be done.
A few months ago, I was reminiscing about my own close call with Cervical Cancer, and I felt the sudden need to express my gratitude for getting through that time in my life, but also to remember those who have sadly passed away because of it ā¤ļø
Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust was set up in 2000, in memory of Jo Maxwell who sadly passed away in 1999, after being diagnosed with Cervical Cancer in 1995. The charity strive to provide a wealth of up to date information and medical advice for those affected by the disease, whilst also providing a platform for communication for women currently facing their own challenging experiences. They conduct their own research and policy work, and hope that one day Cervical Cancer will become a thing of the past.
In two weeks time, I will be holding a 24 hour clinic in order to raise money for this fantastic organisation! From 12pm on the 2nd October to 12pm on the 3rd October I will be offering both existing and new patients the opportunity to book in for a treatment, have a chat and donate the usual cost to support this cause.
So, if you'd like to come in and help, please book by contacting me via Facebook messenger, texting 07564 539385 or send me a WhatsApp! I'm hoping to fill all of the available slots with only a few short breaks for strong coffee, cake, and perhaps a 10 minute power nap!
If the thought of a massage at 3am doesn't appeal to you but you'd still like to help, any donations of any size are gratefully received.
Please share this with friends, family, insomniacs and shift workers alike!
Thank you
Donna xx
