💙 World Diabetes Day – 14th November 💙
Today we celebrate our boy!
Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just two years old, he has lived the most full, active, and joy-filled life ever since. From the outside, you’d never know the daily challenges he faces, because he does it all with that trademark grin and wicked sense of humour.
A comedian, a character and a massive wind up as well as one of the kindest, most big-hearted people I know (even if he hides it under all that bravado!)
He’s been an ambassador for DiabetesUk Cymru, interviewed by ITV, completed the Welsh Three Peaks to raise money for JDRF, and continues to amaze me with how he manages this condition single handedly, 24/7 without ever complaining.
He’s smashing it at the gym, constantly improving his health, and absolutely thriving both on and off the rugby pitch.
He brings laughter (and chaos) into my life every single day and I’m endlessly proud of the young man he’s become. Strong, determined, and proof that nothing can hold you back when you’ve got the right attitude. 💙
Please remember the 4 signs of Type 1 Diabetes:
🟦 Toilet
🟦 Thirsty
🟦 Tired
🟦 Thinner
If your child is displaying these symptoms, take them to a GP and demand a finger prick test.
Too many children are losing their lives to this condition by being misdiagnosed.
A finger prick test costs pennies and can provide a definitive result on the spot
Don't take no for an answer, it could save your child's life. 💙
