Greetings from the Chess Valley!
Getting out and about for walks is one of the ways I look after myself, a resource I can turn to or be reminded of when I want to draw on it. Not always straight forward to carve out the time for it, or to have the conditions for walking well.. in the past 4 years I've undergone 3 surgeries on my ankle which have slowed me down a bit, and I have some residual issues there that are still in a healing process, and yet the daily walk is something I can set myself as a target and notice how I'm getting along.. It's even led to me begining to run a bit! now I'm not a natutal runner, I have a low centre of gravity and and more akin to a Goat than a Cheetah!.. but I'm notcing my walks are feeling the benefit.. one things feeds into another so the saying goes..
The rhythm of walking can become the music around which the chorus of voices that are the constant thoughts, feelings and emotions happening all the time come into focus, and I can get a little space from them, see them for what they are and release them into the sky and earth as I pass through the land..
These constant thoughts, feelings and emotions happening all the time trick me into believing they are real and show me something true about myself.. but actually they appear, remain for a bit, and then dissappear again.. a bit like the features in landscape as I move through it.
Remebering the kindness of this orientation in my Craniosacral Therapy practice helps me stay present and in tune with whats happening in the clients system - as the Biodynamic forces of health meet the unresolved forces of patterns of conditioning held in the bodymind system - and hepl to spacioussly facilitate their release, whilst being mindfully present to my own patterens and perceptions as the therapist. Noticing without holding-on tightly to whats there, letting things emerge, allowing things to move and change and release, thats the core of the practice.
