When you shift your perspective, balance stops being a rigid formula and becomes a flexible mindset—less about doing everything equally and more about doing what feels right at the right time.
Balance isn’t really about splitting everything evenly—it’s about perspective. What feels “unbalanced” to one person might feel perfectly aligned to another, depending on their goals, values, and season of life. Sometimes balance means giving more energy to work, other times to rest, relationships, or growth, and none of that is wrong if it matches what matters most to you right now.

A headache at the back of the head (occipital region) is associated with the Taiyang level, involving the Bladder and Small Intestine channels.
Symptoms may include occipital pain and a stiff neck.
This pattern is commonly due to external Wind-Cold invasion.
Treatment principles include releasing the exterior and warming, such as drinking warm ginger or scallion tea, avoiding cold or raw foods, and protecting the neck from wind exposure.
Kidney deficiency may contribute if there is a chronic history of weakness or recurrent headaches, but it is not inherent to an acute Wind-Cold Taiyang pattern.

If your headache affects your whole head, eating warm and easily digestible foods such as lentils, congee, and yam (sweet potato) may help.

Avoid overworking and skipping meals.

Symptoms may include dull or empty pain, dizziness, and a pale complexion.

In Chinese medicine, this pattern is often associated with Qi and Blood deficiency, sometimes with an underlying wind component.

In TCM channel theory, pain at the top of the head (vertex) is commonly associated with the Liver channel, which is often referred to as the Jueyin.
However, a headache there does not automatically mean Liver pathology — it could also reflect other causes such as Qi/Blood deficiency.

You want to eat blood nourishing foods like black sesame, dates, liver, eggs, spinach and beets and ensure you get sufficient rest.

Symptoms with Liver Yang Rising can be described with throbbing/head pressure, dizziness/vertigo, irritability or anger, and sometimes tinnitus.
These symptoms aren’t specific only to Liver Yang Rising. TCM requires a full pattern diagnosis, including tongue and pulse, not just location and a few symptoms.

Dizziness and tinnitus can also occur with Blood deficiency, Qi deficiency, and other patterns.

Rest and lifestyle balance are also widely emphasized in for nourishing both Blood and Yin and preventing excessive Yang rising.

Headaches located on the temporal sides are primarily associated with the Gallbladder and triple Warmer channel.

This pattern is often caused by liver yang rising, which manifests as heat, distension, and throbbing pain in the head.

Dietary and lifestyle recommendations:
* Consume leafy greens, celery, chrysanthemum, and mung beans to nourish the liver, clear heat, and calm the mind.
* Practice calm breathing, meditation, or gentle qi gong to regulate liver qi and reduce stress.

Avoid:
* Alcohol and fried or spicy foods, which generate internal heat.
* Excessive anger or frustration, which stagnates liver qi and can exacerbate rising liver yang.

By addressing both diet and emotional balance, the liver yang can be gently tamed, reducing heat and relieving temporal headaches.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a headache located in the forehead is commonly associated with the Yangming channels, specifically the Stomach and Large Intestine.

This pattern is often linked to Stomach Heat and Damp-Phlegm, which can cause a heavy or foggy sensation in the head. Cooling foods and beverages such as cucumber, mint tea, and chrysanthemum tea may help clear heat and reduce dampness.

It is also recommended to avoid alcohol, spicy foods, and prolonged exposure to the sun, as these can aggravate heat.

Health is a state of mind, a consciousness and a connection to your body. It’s about listening to those little signs before you get whacked in the face with a nasty symptom.
Obsessing over additive free, organic, sugar free foods doesn’t mean you’re automatically healthy.
