Loneliness is not always visible. It hides behind full calendars, constant availability, and the pressure to appear “fine.”

In 2023, the World Health Organisation recognised loneliness as a global public health threat - yet many professional women still experience it in silence, unsure how to reach for support.

“It’s not the right time.” – Rachel’s Story

Rachel was spinning so many plates... work deadlines, caring for her parents, navigating a rocky relationship. “I can’t take this on right now,” she said. But beneath that was fear: fear she’d fail, that she wouldn’t follow through, that she’d start something and disappoint herself.

The timing excuse was rooted in self-doubt and a deep discomfort with prioritising herself.

But something stayed with her. A week later, she reached out and said, “If I don’t do this now, I never will.”

We created space in her life for healing, and everything else began to feel lighter. Rachel now says, “Starting before I felt ready was the bravest thing I’ve done. It gave me back my centre.”

How she found her voice, set healthy boundaries, and earned respect without conflict

Gráinne was exhausted and resentful from all the demands on her — at work, at home, and within her family.

She longed to be heard and respected without the backlash, guilt, or alienation that always seemed to follow when she tried to assert herself.
She felt unseen and under-appreciated, often putting others’ needs first while quietly sidelining her own.

Professionally, she championed opportunities for everyone else but felt overlooked and undervalued herself.

The breaking point came when her extended family accused her of being the cause of family conflict — something she knew was neither true nor fair.

“I don’t want to spend my savings.” – Natalie’s Story

Natalie was a high-performing executive who had built a healthy savings account but felt paralysed about using it for her own wellbeing. “I’ve been saving for something important,” she said. But the truth was, she didn’t believe she was important enough.

Her hesitation masked a lifelong habit of dismissing her needs. She lacked trust in her instincts and feared making the wrong choice, which is another sign of her low self-worth.

Once she understood that her emotional wellbeing was the very thing holding everything else together, her perspective shifted.

Natalie’s investment in herself became a turning point. She later shared, “The best return on investment I’ve ever made wasn’t financial, it was emotional. I got me back.”
