2025 has been a year of milestones and shared moments – from everyday acts of kindness in our homes, to the honour of being named Care Home Group (Medium-Sized) of the Year at the National Care Awards. This recognition belongs to our remarkable teams, our residents, and the families who place their trust in us each day.

As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with gratitude and confidence, continuing our commitment to providing care that is personal and exceptional.

We’re proud to be supporting a local 12-hour Spinathon, championed by instructors Cat and Clare, at West Hants Club in aid of Dorset Mind — a charity working to ensure conversations around mental health are met with understanding, openness, and genuine support.

Adding to the spirit of the day, Colten Care's own Marketing Director, Barney, will be completing part of the challenge in full Bananaman costume — bringing a smile to the side-lines while championing a vital cause.

This national honour reflects more than four decades of refining what exceptional care truly means - combining trusted nursing excellence with genuine warmth, individuality, and a deep respect for every resident’s story. It celebrates our people: the nurses, carers, chefs, gardeners, companions, and every single member of staff who make every day purposeful and personal.

The people who keep everything running smoothly - celebrated and supported.

We recently held our first ever Colten Care Administration Conference, bringing together admin colleagues from all 21 of our care homes for a day focused on growth, connection, and recognition.

From warm welcomes at reception to behind-the-scenes organisation, our administrators are the quiet constants in daily life, supporting residents, relatives, care teams, and managers alike.

This event, hosted at AFC Bournemouth, was designed for them, offering space to reflect, learn, and recharge. With expert speakers, team-building sessions, and shared insights on topics like trust, change, and communication, it was a chance to step back and develop both skills and confidence.

It’s just one of the ways we invest in people across Colten Care, recognising that great care doesn’t happen without great support.

We’re thrilled that two of our talented team members, Lorna Parsons and Jack Wood, have been named South East Regional Finalists in the NACC Care Chef of the Year 2025 competition.

Their creativity, technical skill, and passion for nourishing residents truly shine through. And now, they’ll represent us at the national finals this October.

It’s a proud moment, and a great example of what’s possible when you bring care and quality together in the kitchen.

One of our Companionship Team members was playing the ukulele during a music session when a resident began to sing along. It wasn’t rehearsed, just a simple, natural moment shared between the two of them.
