“If you’re going through hell, keep going”- Winston Churchill.

There’s not many certainties in life but what’s certain is s**t will happen in life.

Life will hit you with curveballs…especially when you least expect it.

It’s in these moments we grow the most.

This is why we need to practice adversity. For when those moments come we look at it and smile and say “is that all you got?”

We enjoy the suffering because we know good times are coming soon.

Train for the hard times because they come for everyone.

Another favourite of 2021 - Pronation

I have posted about it before. I have been talking about it for years. And I'm going to post about it again 😆

Despite all my posting, the main focus for nearly all coaches remains on foot supination 🤷🏻‍♂️

Foot supination is 100% the rigid formation of the foot that is completely opposite to pronation. This means then that foot pronation is the opposite of rigid, this is of course to be mobile.

Mobile does not mean collapsed. Mobile does not mean flat. Mobile does not suggest being a problem. Mobile is simply the organisation of the bones and tissues as the foot pronates.

Perhaps we should look at it differently?
A colllapsed arch is NOT pronated
A flat foot is NOT necessarily pronated
A problem foot is not a pronated foot.

Pronation of the foot is a culmination of three dimensions of movement in the foot bones that enable the foot to lengthen and spread with ZERO cost to the foot's tripod.

The benefits of a healthy pronation are the lengthening and loading of the vast majority of the foot's muscles (both intrinsic and extrinsic).

The foot's mobile quality gives rise to this lengthening. From this lengthened position, the muscles can contract to reverse the foot's movements and begin to supinate (rigidify) the foot.

The foot's movement is an outcome of its ability to pronate AND supinate. Focussing on one will be at the cost of the other.

Learn about pronation and give your athletes the BEST chance of achieving an actual supinated foot.

Most supinated feet are actually not supinated. This is actually the joke of spending all our time focussing on foot supination - a movement the vast majority struggle to even access. Assessment and understanding helps us to better appreciate a foot's true resting posture.
