Wintering in Yoga
Winter isn’t a season for pushing or reinventing ourselves.
It’s a time to conserve energy, to soften, to wait for the light to return.
For many women, especially mothers, the weeks leading up to Christmas are full.
Holding the mental load, planning, organising, caring, making it magical for everyone else.
Then January arrives with a different kind of demand.
To reset. To go harder. To be disciplined. To improve.
So if your energy feels low, or your body is asking for quieter days, that makes sense.
Yoga doesn’t ask us to force or fix ourselves.
It invites us to listen.
Some days that listening might lead to stronger movement, steadier breath, a sense of momentum returning.
And some days it might lead to slower transitions, longer rests, simpler shapes.
Both are yoga.
Caring for yourself might look like gentle movement, nourishment, warmth, or simply turning up and lying down.
That isn’t punishment or lack of discipline, it’s wisdom.
So if January feels slower for you, nothing needs fixing.
This may simply be your season of wintering.
Let the practice meet you where you are. 💗
