Medical Receptionist.
Ripon Spa Surgery, a busy friendly semi-rural Practice, is looking for an additional full time or two part time Medical Receptionists(s) to join a supportive, amazing established team.
The role is to be welcoming and deliver a high quality, professional and patient focused care working in a in a busy reception environment. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, computer experience, have an approachable manner, be helpful and efficient with the ability to work under pressure.
It is essential that the candidate is flexible regarding hours of work and help with holiday or sickness cover. GP practice experience would be preferable, however transferable skills will be considered to find the right person.
As this is an additional post, we are looking for an almost immediate start for the right candidate.
· To enable effective communication of patient needs and to provide efficient and effective responses to their needs enabling prompt and appropriate attention to their requirements.
· To be able to answer / transfer incoming telephone calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately.
· To be able to identify the appropriate responses to patient needs.
· To respond to patients whilst balancing the priorities and the needs of the practice.
· To maintain absolute confidentiality of patients in dealings with the patient and with other staff.
· To be able to prioritise where appropriate and to identify and initiate action when urgent action needs to be taken.
· To be able to respond to patient queries and to advise on appropriate courses of action.
· To input data into the patient's healthcare record as necessary.
· Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
· Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
· To be able to make appointments face to face and on the telephone.
· To be able to follow and understand the practice appointment system and protocols e.g., duty doctor, triage system etc.
· To be able to advise patients on registration and deregistration, consistent with the policies of the practice.
· To advise on and initiate action regarding appointment requests that give cause for concern.
· To be able to identify a patient need in requesting help with transport.
· To initiate practice processes of assisting the patient with obtaining transport.
