The Government has announced that it will work with the devolved administrations to introduce UK-wide consistent regulations to tackle the rise in youth va**ng
The UK Government will:

* restrict v**e flavours
* restrict how v**es are displayed in stores
* restrict packaging and product presentation for v**es
* apply the above restrictions to non-ni****ne v**es and other consumer ni****ne products such as ni****ne pouches

It will also become illegal for anyone born after January 1 2009 to buy to***co under the prime minister's plan to create a smoke-free generation.

Cracking job this morning and a pleasure to assist with.

This morning officers from the Team 3 Response and the Trowbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team assisted Wiltshire Trading Standards in carrying out a visit to a shop in Trowbridge.

We were joined by Ben Hayes, the Trading Standards South West lead for To***co and Vapes.

This mornings visit saw approximately a quarter of a million illicit ci******es and approximately 25kg of illicit hand rolling to***co, taken off of our streets.

Illegal to***co is often used by Organised Crime Groups to raise funds for their criminal activity - such as human trafficking and terrorism.

It is also reported that the sale and use of illegal to***co by individuals is involved with child exploitation.

It is often the case that when officers deal with individuals who sell illegal to***co, they also discover involvement with other criminal activity. Profits made from the sale of illegal to***co are then fed back into criminal activities.

All of these issues will have a negative impact on your local neighbourhood.

Today our office was Wiltshire….. and maybe a teeny tiny trip to Southampton. Great partnership working lead to great results… 👏🏼

This morning officers from the Trowbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team assisted Wiltshire Trading Standards in carrying out a number of visits to stores in Trowbridge.

We were joined by Ben Hayes the Trading Standards South West lead for To***co and Vapes and Griff the to***co dog!

This mornings visits saw 7760 illicit ci******es and 1800g of illicit hand rolling to***co taken off our streets!

Smoking remains the single greatest cause of preventable illness and avoidable death in the UK.

Cancer Research UK have written an open letter to Steve Barclay, the Secretary of State for Health and Social care, and Jeremy Hunt, Chancellor of the Exchequer, urging them to publish a new to***co control plan to tackle smoking.

Support Cancer Research UK and sign your name to show your support for ending smoking. The letter will be published on No Smoking Day (8th March). Sign up by March 7th to make sure your name is included.

Join our campaigners by asking the Health Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer to protect our loved ones from smoking-related cancers today.

Research conducted by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) reveals that illicit v**es are the products Trading Standards professionals are most concerned about on the UK’s high streets. There are concerns that some may be designed specifically to appeal to children and young people, with packaging and flavours emulating popular confectionery brands such as Skittles. Cracking work Trading Standard 😀

❌ Last September, Trading Standards seized over 900,000 ci******es and 15kg of to***co, with an estimated retail value of up to £746,000, from a garage in Stoke Gifford.

🔥 Selling illegal to***co is a criminal offence and is linked to organised crime, including drugs, weapons and people trafficking. Illegal ci******es are also unlikely to comply with certain safety standards, designed to reduce the risk of house fires.
