My patient Gareth came in with lower back pain caused by a sudden twist while checking his car tyres 🙈 Yes that's right...it can sometimes be the smallest of movements that can cause an injury.

During the first part of Gareth's appointment we assessed where exactly the pain was as well as the severity. We soon established that the pain was caused by ligaments at the base of the spine which then sent the surrounding muscles into spasm.

This condition did not require manipulation - and as it was quite afresh injury I instead worked on slowly releasing tension.

One happy patient who will now change the way he changes his tyres in a rush 😆!

We can't avoid sitting - especially if you’re a desk based worker.

HOWEVER you can start incorporating a few daily changes to avoid metabolic problems and obesity!

And this is where Fidgeting comes in 🙌🏻!

The most perfect ergonomical chair is not the key if you are sitting still in it all day. Variety is key. You need to move around, change where and how you sit to avoid the problems that have become associated with sitting in one position for too long. Make a point of moving about as often as you can to help prevent issues such as back pain.

For any help or questions please just contact us directly ☺️

Tom is treating Plantar fasciitis for a client, which is inflammation of the plantar fascia, either through overstretching, overuse, or a medical condition.

Here's a few ways to help prevent Plantar Fasciitis:

▪ Maintain a healthy weight to minimise stress on the plantar fascia.
▪ Wear supportive shoes which have good arch support and shock absorption.
▪ Avoid going barefoot, especially on hard surfaces.
▪ Avoid only running on hard surfaces such as concrete as the impact may be too hard for your muscles and joints to cope.
▪ Avoid running on uneven ground or angled surfaces.
▪ Replace running shoes every 6 months to 1 year before they stop supporting and cushioning the feet.
▪ Wear orthotics if you have poor foot mechanics.
▪ Warm up before sport or running and allow adequate recovery time after training.
▪ Include regular stretching of your calves in your warm up and cool down to avoid developing muscle tightness and improve your flexibility.
▪ When starting a new activity or exercise program, make sure to gradually ease into it. Any changes to your training load must be gradual.

If you are suffering with any injury or discomfort then please do get in touch ☺
