The Betts And Ababio Cancer Organisation

The Betts And Ababio Cancer Organisation The Betts And Ababio Cancer Organisation was launched on the 6th May, 2012. Aims: To help support people with cancer by fund raising. Went Ghana 24/08/12.

I took the initiative to get few people together to set up this Organisation because I have Survived Breast Cancer twice. First at age 36 and second at age 50 in 2010. It was very difficult for my family and I becuase we had just lost my dad through Lung Cancer in July 2009. I have seen how difficulty it is in coping with cancer. How the Nurses and Doctors work so hard to help and support their patients then you have the Chemotheraphy and Radiotheraphy department it's unbelivable. The organisation was founded on the 6th of May 2012 and have not look back since. We have been to Ghana to visit the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where we saw first hand how small their Chemotheraphy room is. We went to Sierra Leone there is no Cancer treatment there. I tried my level best to share my experience with other's who are going through the process for them to have faith and hope in beliving that there is light at the end of the turnnel and they can beat cancer. It is a Non Governmental Organisation soley raising funds to help my local hospital, Hospice and West Africa for now.

Meet Achille 👋🛻

He’s been working as a driver for MSF in Bangassou, Central African Republic (CAR), since 2016.

“You need stamina and a true humanitarian spirit for this job,” he says.

According to the UN, just 600km of the 25,000km road network in CAR is paved. This makes it hard for people to reach health facilities, and for aid organisations to get help to where it’s needed. Insecurity adds an extra layer of complexity to travelling in CAR.

“Of course, the state of the roads is often very challenging, especially in the north of the prefecture. It can be a real ordeal, and then you witness difficult situations, like blood and injured people. But, at the end of the day, I feel a sense of pride in contributing to people's wellbeing.”

Next year, Achille plans to stop working and enjoy his retirement. His career choice has clearly inspired his children, who are also committed to helping others.

"My youngest daughter is training to be a first aider here at Bangassou hospital. My eldest daughter works for the Central African Red Cross, and my sons want to become driver-mechanics, like me. I hope they pursue their careers with MSF!"

NEED YOUR PRAYERS TO HELP TO GET BACK IN REMISSION !
IN 2013 I was diagnosed with incurable multiple Myelona cancer. After 9 months of chemotherapy Doctors said the average remission was 9 years. A year ago January, the oncologist told me my Myeloma markers were spiking. Meaning, that In all this time I had no signs of cancer and in complete remission, but now the tests tell us 17% of the cancer is back. 9 years reduced to 6 years.
So for 5 months and between 5 heart stent operations, I tried a few different cancer treatments that failed. My doctor retired from Mt. Siani in NYC and sent me back UAMS in Arkansas, to the new Wonderman of myeloma, Dr. Frits VanRhee, who decided to try combining medicines and take a more aggressive approach. Since last July I’ve been on the more advanced medicine and getting chemo shots in my stomach every Tuesday. That really hurts. They added a type of steroid, which bloats you up. So I immediately gained 20 pounds of water weight I couldn’t get rid of. (Ugh) Now this week I’m back in Little Rock after faithfully following this regimen for 7 months to see if this new approach has worked. I also will go into surgery on Tuesday for a bone biopsy. That’s where they drill in your hip for a piece of bone to see if there’s any signs of cancer. Wow, what a week. So please pray, because I can’t quit, I can’t stop fighting and I still trust God to have his perfect will done in the end. But I can’t do it without your prayers and support. Sunday January 19th is my birthday and what I really want is a cancer free body. I’ll let you know as soon as I know. You’re friend and fellow soldier in Christ still fighting the good fight - Carman
