At 107 years old, Elsie is the oldest patient to visit the Discharge Lounge at King’s Mill Hospital, part of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The lounge supports quicker, safer discharges by giving patients a comfortable place to wait while prescriptions, transport and final checks are arranged — helping free up beds for those who need them most.

With support from the Frailty Intervention Team, Elsie is now preparing to head home after recovering from a knee injury.

She said: ‘I’ve had really good care… I’m excited to get back to my home comforts.’

Well done to the team for supporting safer discharges and excellent patient care.
