Can astrology really help me understand where I’m going?

It’s a question many people quietly carry — sometimes with curiosity, sometimes with a little doubt.

After all, how can the movement of planets have anything to do with the direction our lives take?

For me, astrology has never been about simple prediction.
It’s more like a map — one that shows us the kind of landscape we’re moving through, rather than the exact road we must take.

And at the moment, the landscape is… quite striking.

There'
s a strong gathering of planets in Aries — the sign of beginnings, courage, and the impulse to act.
The Sun and Moon come together here, suggesting a kind of new start… or at least the desire for one.
But alongside this, we also find Saturn, Neptune, and Mars — a combination that doesn’t occur very often, and one that brings a more complex feeling.
Mars wants to move forward.
Saturn asks us to slow down and be sure.
Neptune softens the edges, sometimes bringing inspiration… and sometimes uncertainty.

So we may find ourselves in a strange place:
wanting to act, but not quite knowing how.
feeling the pull of something new, but unsure what form it should take.

Mercury, too, hovers on the edge of Pisces — a little less clear, perhaps, than usual.
Thoughts may feel more intuitive than logical, but also harder to pin down.

And then there is Venus — in her own sign of Ta**us — steady, grounded, and perhaps a little alone.
If Aries speaks of bold beginnings, Venus in Ta**us reminds us of something quieter:
the need for stability, for connection, for something that lasts.
We might feel, at times, caught between these two energies —
the urge to move forward, and the desire to feel safe and secure.

And this is where astrology can be helpful.
Not in telling us exactly what to do —
but in helping us recognise the nature of the moment we’re in.

This feels very much like a threshold.
A time of potential beginnings…
but also of questioning, refining, and quietly preparing the ground.

And perhaps the real question is not:
“Where am I going?”
but:
“What is beginning to take shape within me now?”
From there, the path often reveals itself.

How are these energies working in your life at this moment?

Tarot Tuesday — The Emperor

The courage to lead; the steadiness to care

Today, the tarot card I’ve drawn is The Emperor. Which is interesting, considering that in the sky just now, Jupiter - the astrological counterpart of this tarot card - is moving through the sign of Cancer. At the same time, he’s linked through a positive sextile to
Venus in Ta**us, and a flowing trine to the Moon in Pisces.
The Emperor is the representative of the Father of the gods, but not as a rigid authority, but as the archetypal Wise One. The one who’s lived, learned, and now holds a quiet, grounded strength. And with his present astrological links to Venus and the Moon, his is presently an even gentler kind of strength — one that protects, nurtures, and steadies rather than controls.

There's a beautiful balance here between feeling and form. Cancer and Pisces bring compassion and sensitivity; Ta**us brings steadiness and value. The Emperor reminds us that true wisdom isn’t cold. It’s used in the service of others and in our everyday lives.

The Emperor, in this light, becomes less the stern-looking ruler on a throne that he appears in this card, and more the calm presence who can hold space for others. Someone who brings structure, with care. Boundaries, with warmth.

In our relationships, this may be a moment to ask:
Where am I being called to show up with quiet authority — not to dominate, not to try to force others to my ways of thinking and desire, but to help support and stabilise?

You don’t need to force things into place.
You’re being invited to become the steady ground on which something can grow. To give the space, perhaps, in which others can be gently led and nurtured.

Reflection for today:
Where in your life can you offer both strength and kindness? To yourself, or to someone else in need?

We move through the week so easily that we rarely stop to notice the names we give to our days.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday…
And Friday. Freya’s day, goddess of love.

These names come to us from the old Norse and Saxon worlds, where love, courage, wisdom, and strength were not abstract ideas, but living forces woven into everyday life.

Even the words we use — love (lufu), health (hælth), will (willan) — carry echoes of that older understanding.
Not just feelings or concepts, but ways of being… especially in how we relate to one another.

So perhaps the question becomes:
What is moving quietly through our lives — and our relationships — even now?

Your thoughts?

Friday — The Day of Venus
The courage to enjoy; the wisdom to remain grounded.

Did you know that Friday is Venus Day?

In the old ways, long before calendars became numbers on a screen, the days themselves belonged to the gods. In the Celtic and Norse traditions that still echo quietly through our language, Friday is the day of Freya, goddess of love, beauty, and fertile abundance… and of her consort Frey, lord of the earth, growth, and plenty.

And you can feel them, perhaps, at this time of year.
The air softens. The light lingers. The earth begins, once again, to stir.

This morning, as I stood in the garden; pulling, sorting, coaxing things back into life. I could almost hear them.

“Look how it grows,” Freya murmurs softly, her fingers brushing the first green shoots.

“There is always more life waiting, if you are willing to tend it.”
Frey laughs, warm and steady beside her.
“And work, of course. Let us not forget the work.”

And yes… there is work. Sorting. Clearing. Preparing for what is yet to come.
Not always pleasant in the moment. But satisfying, all the same, for what we know it will bring.

And all around, the garden speaks:
Birdsong rising in the early light, small urgent voices as the nesting birds gather food for their young. Life calling to life.Above us, the heavens tell their own version of this story.

Venus — Freya herself — sits in her own sign of Ta**us, the Great Bull of the Cosmos. She is strong here. At home. Sensual, grounded, quietly powerful.
But today, she pauses.
“Is it enough,” she wonders aloud, “to simply enjoy?”
For although she is dignified in Ta**us, she stands somewhat alone — her only true conversation being with Jupiter, the great Father of the gods, exalted in Cancer.

From his throne, Jupiter watches with a kind, expansive gaze.

“My daughter,” he says, his voice rich with warmth,
“Enjoy what is given — but nurture it. Protect it. Let what you love be something you care for, not merely something you take pleasure in.”

From the astronomical sextile, his words reach her gently, not demanding, but encouraging. A reminder that love grows best when it is tended.

But there is another voice in the sky today.

Selene, the Moon, stands in Capricorn, a place of structure, duty, and realism. Here, she is in detriment, a little uncomfortable, her silver light constrained by the weight of responsibility.

She turns toward her father.

“We cannot live only in pleasure,” she says quietly.
“There are things that must be done.”

Jupiter nods, though his expression softens.

“And yet,” he replies, “we do them not to burden ourselves… but to sustain what we love.”

And so the conversation continues — between joy and duty, pleasure and responsibility, heart and structure.

Venus smiles, just slightly.
“Perhaps,” she says, “we can have both.”

And perhaps that is the nature of today.
A day to enjoy what life offers — the warmth of a cup of tea, the sound of birdsong, the quiet satisfaction of things put in order…
…but also a day to remember that what we cherish asks something of us in return.

Care. Attention. Presence.
For me?
It’s a cuppa in the garden…
and then, gently, back to the tidying.

How are Venus, Selene, and their father speaking into your day today.

Today I've drawn The Chariot. A card of movement, direction, and the will to go forward — even when the road is uncertain.

In some traditions, this energy echoes the ancient Norse god Tyr (or the Celtic Tiu), after whom Tuesday is named. Neither was a reckless warrior, but one who understood that true courage often involves sacrifice.

The Chariot carries something of this same quiet determination. Not force for its own sake, but directed will. The ability to hold opposing forces — light and dark, doubt and desire — and still move forward.

The figure in The Chariot does not rush wildly ahead. They are composed, centred, and focused. The journey is not about conquering others, but about mastering the self.

In our relationships, this card can speak of a moment where things feel pulled in different directions. Part of you may want to retreat; another part wants to press forward. The Chariot asks: can you hold both, and choose your direction consciously?

It may also point to the need for boundaries. Not walls, but clarity. Knowing where you are going, and not being easily swayed from it.

Gently, this card reminds us:
progress doesn’t always come from force — but from alignment.

Reflection for today:
Where in your life are you being asked to take the reins — not through struggle, but through quiet, steady intention?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Bank Holiday Reflection ☀️
It should be Sunday Reflection, but of course, yesterday was for
family, food, and good company.

Today feels quieter.

I’ve been thinking about mindfulness — or Vipassana — the simple practice of being present with what is here.
Not perfectly. Not serenely. Just honestly.

This morning it’s tea, sunlight, two dogs, and trying to type without hitting the wrong keys…

And maybe that is the practice.
This moment — and this — and this.

How does presence show up in your day?

When the Path Isn’t Yet Clear

At the moment, there’s an interesting tension in the sky.

With Saturn and Neptune moving together, what once felt solid may begin to soften, while what was uncertain takes on a different kind of presence. Not yet clear, not yet formed, but no longer possible to ignore.

It’s as though two movements are taking place at once. One urges us forward — to decide, to act, to take hold of things and shape them into something clear. The other is quieter, but no less present, and seems to draw us back, as though something is not yet ready to be brought fully into the light.

In older language, we might have said that different gods are at work here — not in conflict exactly, but in a kind of uneasy balance.

One presses for direction.
Another dissolves what no longer holds.
And between them, we are asked to pause.

This can feel like standing in a landscape where the familiar outlines have shifted slightly. The path is still there, but it doesn’t appear in quite the same way. What once seemed obvious may now require a second look.

There’s also a more subtle influence at work — a quickening of insight that comes not through effort, but unexpectedly. A thought, a conversation, or a moment of quiet awareness may open something that had previously been out of reach.

Not all movement is visible.
Sometimes, what is changing does so beneath the surface, before it finds expression in outward life.

So if things feel uncertain at the moment, it may not be a sign that you are off course.

It may be that you’re between stages.
Between what has been understood…
and what is still taking shape.

This is not always a comfortable place to stand. But it’s often a meaningful one.

If it’s possible, this may be a time to allow space rather than press for answers. To notice what’s forming, even if it doesn’t yet have a name.

And to trust, gently, that not everything needs to be clear all at once.

Some things take shape in shadow,
before they are ready to stand in the light.

What do you think? Are these energies presently working in your life?

There are times when the world grows quieter; not outwardly, but somewhere within.

The Hermit stands at the edge of the known path, holding a small light against the surrounding dark. He doesn’t call out, he doesn’t ask to be followed. His presence is enough.

In older traditions, this figure is sometimes seen not simply as a solitary seeker, but as one who has stepped aside from the ordinary movement of life to listen more closely to something beneath. A
guide from within our deeper souls, drawing us to pay attention.

The lantern s/he carries contains a single star.

It doesn’t illuminate the whole landscape, nor does it reveal where the path will lead. It shows only what is near. What is immediate. What is ready to be seen.

And perhaps that’s all that’s needed.

This card can appear when our usual certainties begin to fall away. When what once felt clear no longer holds us in quite the same way. There may be a sense here not of loss, but of a temporary turning inwards, as though something within is asking for space in which to speak.

There’s also a deeper tone to The Hermit. At times, it can feel as though this turning inward is not entirely chosen, but part of a wider movement. As though you are being drawn for a while out of the visible world, and into a quieter place where something more essential can be encountered.

Not everything found here can be easily explained. But it often proves to be real.

The Hermit doesn’t promise answers.
He offers something else:

The possibility that, in stillness,
what is true will begin to show itself.

Sunday Reflections – The Names of the Gods

Have you ever wondered where the names of the planets really come from?

The language of astrology is far older than we often realise. The names we use—Venus, Mars, Jupiter—come to us through layers of history: from Claudius Ptolemy, through Ancient Rome, and back to the sky-watchers of Babylon.

Each name carries meaning, not just of planets, but of human experience—love, conflict, growth, longing.

Perhaps astrology begins not as prediction, but as poetic astronomy… a way of recognising ourselves in the sky. And later this week, we’ll see how these archetypal energies are moving in the present sky.

I’d be interested to hear how this feels for you.

27/03/2026

There is a stirring in the heavens this week—a meeting of fire and water, desire and belonging, courage and care.

Venus, goddess of love, stands in Aries, the sign of her passionate consort Mars. Here, she is bold, direct, perhaps even a little reckless in love. She does not wait—she reaches. She desires. She dares. And beside her stands Chiron, the ancient healer, reminding us that where we most long to love freely is often where we carry our deepest wounds. Ready, perhaps, to help heal us of those wounds.

Across the sky, Selene—the Moon—rests in her own watery realm of Cancer. She gathers us inward, towards home, memory, and the quiet need to feel safe in another’s presence. With her is Jupiter, the great father, expanding all he touches. Emotions deepen. Attachments grow stronger. The longing for closeness becomes something almost tidal.

And so we find ourselves in a tension between these two worlds.
Venus in Aries says: “Love me now. See me. Choose me.”
The Moon in Cancer replies: “Hold me gently. Stay. Let me feel that I belong.”

In our relationships, this may play out as a subtle push and pull. One part of us reaches outward—seeking excitement, honesty, immediacy. Another part retreats inward—seeking reassurance, continuity, emotional safety.

Yet there’s also a quiet harmony beneath it all.
Mars, moving through Pisces, offers a bridge between these realms. He softens. He listens. He reminds us that strength need not always be force—it can also be compassion, presence, and the willingness to feel.

So what might we take from this?

This is a time to notice how you love—and how you need to be loved.
To recognise where desire moves quickly, and where the heart asks for time.
To honour both without forcing one to silence the other.

Love, this week, isn’t a single voice.
It’s a conversation between fire and water—
between the courage to reach,
and the courage to remain.

The angelic presence of Temperance… some say Michael the Archangel, others Raphael.
But perhaps the truest name is the one that comes to you in stillness — in meditation — which is itself one of the keys to this card.

Whoever this being is, they do not arrive in flame or thunder.
They are already here.

Standing quietly.
Waiting, perhaps, for us to notice.

They pour the water of life from one vessel to another — a gentle, endless movement.
Energy flowing. Balance being restored.
Something of a sacred exchange — like the shared cup of the Eucharist — where what is given is also received.

Around them grow irises — flowers of thresholds, of quiet crossings.
One foot rests upon the earth; the other touches the water.
Conscious and unconscious. Seen and unseen.

And perhaps that is the real invitation of Temperance.

Not action.
Not striving.
But a quiet participation.

If we are willing to pause — truly pause —
we may begin to feel something within us gently rebalancing.

The waters here are healing.
Of body, mind, or soul — whichever part of us most needs it.
And often, all three together.

In relationships, this card speaks softly but clearly:
not everything is resolved through effort or explanation.
Sometimes what is needed is space… listening… a willingness to meet one another in a calmer place.

A shared stillness.
A rebalancing between giving and receiving.

So today, if you can:

Be quiet.
Rest for a moment.
Let something within you settle.

And see what begins, very gently, to flow.

✨ If you’d like to explore how this kind of work might support you personally, you’re very welcome to message me.
