The UK’s new packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR) scheme is having an unintended consequence: some brands are moving away from glass in favour of plastic or aluminium to avoid disproportionate fees.

In the latest article on our website we explain why brands should wait before switching their packaging material.

Nick Kirk, Federation Director at British Glass, joins us in predicting that the pEPR fee for glass will come down, and therefore urges brands not to switch from glass to other materials just yet.

British Glass and Beatson Clark are urging brands to not make hasty material switches, predicting that the pEPR fee for glass will fall once actual collection and recycling costs are fully understood.

Congratulations to Wath Upon Dearne RUFC who have won a £500 grant from the Beatson Clark Colleague Community Engagement Fund!

Our Customer Service Executive Rachel Jepson applied for the funding on behalf of the club, which will go towards training equipment for all the club's teams to use, including the U10 team pictured here.

The first team is currently second in the league, so good luck for the rest of the season to all the teams!

As November draws to a close this weekend, so does the charity fund-raising month of Movember!

Movember funds projects that improve men's health, and a group of employees from Beatson Clark raised money for the charity by walking round Manvers Lake near Rotherham - complete with some fake moustaches!

Thanks to match funding from Beatson Clark's Colleague Community Engagement Fund, they managed to raise an amazing £300 for Movember.

Everyone enjoyed the walk so much the group are planning to make it a regular event just for the fun and the fresh air!

A unique glass container which we've designed and manufactured has been featured on the Packaging News website.

Functional drinks brand UNROOTED Drinks asked us to create a new bespoke 420ml multi-dose glass bottle for their products, which are made from the super-healthy fruit of the baobab tree.

It makes UNROOTED the first functional drinks brand to offer a multi-dose format in glass, arguably the healthiest form of packaging!

There are only six weeks until Christmas! But there’s still time for you to buy your Christmas cards…

Why not support a local charity this year and buy some unique Christmas cards hand-drawn by a young artist and entrepreneur?

Fourteen-year-old Charlotte Oram volunteers for Rotherham Families First, and for the last four years she’s hand drawn Christmas cards to raise money for the charity’s Rotherham Toy Appeal.

The appeal is a wonderful fundraising initiative supporting families who can't provide gifts for their children at Christmas.

To support Charlotte and help her to reach her target of £800 we’re selling her charity Christmas cards to staff and visitors in our reception area on Greasbrough Road in Rotherham.

Please support Charlotte by buying some of her cards and spreading the word around Rotherham about this amazing charity initiative by an inspirational young lady!

A pack of three cards costs £2.50 and a pack of two money wallets costs £1.50.

If you can support the Rotherham Toy Appeal, please consider donating new, unwrapped toys suitable for various age groups.

Our photo shows Charlotte meeting the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Rukhsana Ismail.

Keep up the good work Charlotte!

This Sunday the nation will pause to remember those who lost their lives in the two world wars and later conflicts.

To pay our respects on Remembrance Sunday (9th November) and Armistice Day (Tuesday 11th November) our factory sign will be lit up in red from this evening.

We will also lay a wreath at the war memorial which stands in the grounds of our factory in Rotherham.

We are very proud of the men and women from Beatson Clark who fought for their country, and of the contribution Beatson Clark has made to the war effort throughout history.

At 11am on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day we are invited to pause for a two-minute silence and reflect on the service and sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces past and present.
