As this week is National Apprenticeship Week, we’re proud to shine a light on one of our own: Mechanical Apprentice, Owen Usher.

Owen began his apprenticeship back in March 2024 and has now been part of the Beatson Clark team for almost two years. In that time, he’s gone from shadowing experienced colleagues to taking on real responsibility and getting hands-on with the work that keeps our site running.

💡 A new study from Stazione Sperimentale del Vetro shows opaque glass packaging is being recycled more effectively than ever across Europe and highlights the vital role of recycled glass in a circular economy. ♻️

At Beatson Clark, we are committed to continually innovating our glass recycling process. In 2025, we invested £750k to upgrade our on-site recycling plant with cutting-edge Optical Sorters, using the latest camera technology to detect and remove pyro-ceramics. This ensures our cullet (recycled glass) is of the highest quality.

Our plant processes around 44,000 tonnes of waste glass recovered from kerbside collections, bottle banks and the hospitality trade each year. This glass is then melted in our furnace to manufacture new bottles and jars.

All our glass packaging contains high recycled content, averaging 56% post-consumer recycled glass in our dark amber and over 36% for our white flint glass containers.

It’s exciting to see research that reflects the progress being made across the industry and the impact of ongoing investments in glass recycling.

FERVER and FEVE welcome the publication of a new technical report (1) by Stazione Sperimentale del Vetro (SSV) (2), which provides robust scientific evidence on the actual recycling performance of opaque glass packaging in Europe.

We’ve had two brilliant days at PharmaPack Europe! Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and took the time to connect with our team.
