I came across this post on Facebook, shared by a friend, and I just had to share it again. ๐
I have so much respect for The Alice Lisle Pub for making the incredibly thoughtful decision to change their event schedule on the day of their event in order to support their community. It takes a lot for any business to put their hands up and say, โWe got this wrong,โ but it takes an even bigger one to lead by example and do the right thing โ even when itโs not the easiest choice.
By cancelling their fireworks, theyโve shown compassion and awareness for the wellbeing of their community, local wildlife, and pets โ recognising that 15โ20 minutes of spectacle simply isnโt worth the distress it can cause. ๐ฟ๐พ
Theyโve done something amazing, and I truly hope the locals rally around and support them for this thoughtful change. This is what real community spirit and responsible business leadership look like. ๐
Letโs hope more venues and organisers take inspiration from The Alice Lisle โ proving that you can absolutely enjoy Guy Fawkesโ Night and support local businesses without fireworks. ๐โก๏ธ๐
An Important Update Regarding Our Event & Fireworks Display
We have heard the concerns of the New Forest community loud and clear.
As a host site, we now fully understand and appreciate the distress a fireworks display would cause to both local residents and the wonderful wildlife around us, including livestock and pets. We wholeheartedly agree that the welfare of all animals in the Forest is paramount.
After careful consideration and listening to your feedback, we have made the decision to cancel the fireworks display.
The Event Continues with the community & animals in mind
We are committed to being a supportive and responsible part of this community. While the fireworks are off, the party is still on!
We will be moving forward with:
Live Music
Great Food
Face Painting
We have listened, and we have acted. Now, we are asking for your support! Please join us. Your attendance will not only help us make it a great evening but also allow us to help raise awareness for the care of the New Forest's people and animals.
Please Help Us Share!
We would be so grateful for your help in sharing this far and wide across your pages and local community groups. It is important that all affected people can rest assured that we are no longer having fireworks.
To all that have written in. please come down today & see us, it would be great to meet you and discuss how we can support the Forest & community further
Warm regards
Gedz & Chris
