This month we've talked about grief, mental health and looking after yourself when the hardest things happen.

If there's one thing we'd want you to take from it, it's this..

Asking for help is not a sign that you can't cope. It's a sign that you're human.

Whether that's picking up the phone to us, talking to your GP or simply telling someone close to you that you're struggling please do 🌷

We are always here.

The Black Country isn't just where we work.

It's where we grew up and where our families have lived for generations.

Where we've had the privilege of supporting thousands of local families through some of their most difficult days.

Still the same values and the same commitment to the people of this area

When your loved one comes into our care, they are treated with complete dignity and respect at every stage at all times.

They are kept in a safe, temperature-controlled environment in our facilities.

We are with them throughout their journey and we are happy to explain exactly what that looks like to help you feel reassured.

Transparency is something we believe every family deserves. If you have any questions about our facilities or our processes, we are always happy to answer.

A lot of people think a funeral plan is about money.

That is only one part of it. Fixing the cost today, before prices rise, is one reason people plan ahead.

But the families who've been through it will often tell you the bigger benefit was something else entirely.

Not having to make decisions in a crisis.
Not having to guess what their loved one would have wanted.
Not having to find the money at the worst possible moment.

A Golden Charter funeral plan removes those burdens from the people you'll leave behind.

If you'd like to find out more please do get in touch, there's no pressure and no obligation just an honest conversation.

As it stands at the moment, anyone can legally call themselves a funeral director in the UK.

For us, that doesn't sit comfortably.

When you trust us with someone you love, you deserve to know that trust is well placed.

Professional development isn't about letters after a name. It's about accountability and continuing to raise the standard of care for every family we serve.

That's why Will Downing is currently undertaking the Diploma in Funeral Directing an optional qualification that brings structure, regulation and professional standards to an industry where they are not currently required.

Here at the NE Downing family, caring for your loved one is a trust we truly value 🤍

Arranging a funeral is one of the most difficult and stressful things a person will ever do.

You're making significant decisions often for the first time, all while dealing with shock, exhaustion and grief.
Yet somehow, life carries on around you.

Here are a few things that can help:

🤍 You don't have to do it alone. Bring someone with you when you come to see us.
🤍 Write things down. It's hard to retain information when you're grieving.
🤍 Ask us to repeat anything. We will never rush you.
🤍 Give yourself permission to take breaks from planning.
🤍 Eat, sleep and drink water. It sounds basic because it is, but grief makes all of it harder.

We are used to supporting families through this. It's what we're here for.

Following our recent video about direct cremation with Dr Bill Webster, a few questions came up that are worth answering properly.

Is direct cremation a cheaper option?
Can we still have a memorial service?
Will we still be looked after properly?
How do we know what option to choose?

We know the questions may appear endless, that’s why we are here to guide you through the options🤍

This is a slightly longer post than usual but a meaningful one.

Here, Dr Bill Webster shares his personal experience of direct cremation following the loss of his son.

More families are choosing direct cremation and that is completely understandable.

Before making a decision, it can help to gently explore what it involves, what it doesn’t include and what some families have found helpful to know beforehand.

At T Hadley & Co, we’re here to guide rather than direct.

We’ll always take the time to explain your options clearly, honestly and without pressure, so you can choose what feels right for you and your family.

If you’d like to talk things through or ask any questions, we’re always here 🤍

Today is World Health Day and April is also Stress Awareness Month.

We want to talk about something that doesn't get enough attention 🤍

Grief is one of the most stressful experiences a person can go through. Yet people are often expected to simply manage it alongside everything else in their lives.

Here are five things worth knowing:

🤍Grief affects your body, not just your mind. Sleep, appetite and concentration ALL of it.

🤍There is no timeline. Six weeks, six months, six years grief is different for everyone.

🤍Asking for help is not weakness. Talking to someone whether a friend, a Doctor or a counsellor, can make a real difference.

🤍Anniversaries and seasons can trigger grief long after the loss. This is completely normal.

🤍You don't have to be recently bereaved to struggling. Old grief resurfaces and that's valid too.

If you're finding it hard, please reach out to someone 🤍
