Battling across the Board....

Our lovely residents at The Ruddington like nothing better than some friendly competition over a board game or two. They chose the classic Ludo for this week's battle. A game that some of our younger readers may not be familiar with, but back in the day, it was all the rage. Despite there being some competitive spirit on show, it never got in the way of our residents' friendship and laughter. A lovely way of bringing people together.

Hubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble....

Halloween week was certainly enjoyed by the residents of Balmore Country House. In particular, our ladies loved dressing up in their witches' hats and causing no end of trouble for everyone! Just joking - they are the nicest set of witches you will ever meet. Everyone enjoyed the decorations around the home and joining in the spooky fun all week!

Darts Champion!

A big welcome to our new resident, Sandra. She recently came to live at St Peter's, and on her first day she won our darts tournament! She was over the moon. Apparently she used to play darts with her husband, and she can not wait to tell him she won! Well done Sandra and it's lovely to have you at St Peter's - we hope you will be very happy here.

Halloween Happiness....

Last week St Peter's welcomed back regular visitors Kevin and Marie for a fantastic Halloween Show. What a brilliant show they put on, with everyone joining in and having so much fun. The costumes and songs were great, so a big thank you to them for the effort they put in to making it such a great spectacle. Everyone is looking forward to them coming back and we cant wait to see what they come up with next!

A great show......

All the residents at St Peter's were treated to a great afternoon's entertainment recently, when local singer Trevor Santini visited the home. Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Cliff Richard numbers were performed along with many others. Everyone joined in the fun and had a great time. Big thanks to Trevor for giving us such a great show!

Supporting our local team.....

For some time, Balmore has sponsored our local boys' football team - Clifton All Whites. So we are very happy to help them advertise their upcoming Fireworks Display on the 8th November. It promises to be a fab event so it would be great to see as many people there as possible.

A fantastic feast.....

Who doesn't love a lovely spread and a cuppa? Well, our lovely residents at Orchard House certainly do, and so recently we laid on a great spread for them. We had asked for a list of everyone's favourite things and made sure that the kitchen team got everyone on the menu! It was a lovely afternoon which everyone thoroughly enjoyed...the only question we got was...when's the next one?!

Getting sporty!

Our lovely residents at Balmore House can get very competitive when it comes to games and sporting competition. And so it was this weekend when we set up a little tabletop table tennis. We didnt need the full size professioanl setup for things to get quite feisty! Some great shots and good tactics, as well as lots of laughter made for an excellent session - perfect for keeping our residents' hand eye coordination in fine fettle.

Double top at St Peter's!

Our lovely residents recently enjoyed an afternoon of darts when Waleys Darts days came to the home. The staff joined in as well, such was the nature of the competition on display. The session was a big hit, especially with the gents who relived some of their glory days in the local pubs! Everyone had a great time and can't wait for them to visit again!

A creative weekend...

We often hold arts and crafts sessions at Balmore House. It's a great way to help residents engage in a task and also helps with fine motor skills. This weekend, we undertook some rock painting. There was plenty of creativity on display, and the finished rocks are now around residents' rooms and the home. A lovely way to spend a few hours and a very soothing session, which everyone enjoyed.

Nothing to beat it!

Everyone loves a pub lunch, and the residents at The Ruddington are no exception. Some of them tripped out this week and have been enjoying pub lunches at the Heart in Ruddington this week. Reviews have been very favourable so more of our residents are going to go next week.

Important Change of Date!

Unfortunately, Orchard House has had to postpone its Summer Fayre from this coming Saturday to Saturday, 13th September. This is due to an outbreak of COVID at the home. It is very important that we look after our residents and their families and contain any spread of the virus as much as possible.

We look forward to the new date in September when we will be able to welcome everyone to the home and what promises to be a lovely afternoon. We hope to see you all in a month's time!
