✨ Our Sensory Suite ✨

Our sensory suite is a calm and welcoming space designed to support individuals who benefit from a quieter, more supportive environment.

For some, everyday environments can feel busy or overwhelming. Having access to a dedicated sensory space can provide opportunities to slow down, explore and relax in a nautical themed environment.

Our sensory suite offers a variety of experiences:
👂Sounds
👃Smells
🌈Lights
🫧Bubbles
🛌A heated water bed

The Willow Sensory Suite is suitable for all ages.

40 minute sessions are £35 and can include a MAXIMUM of 3 clients/users plus up to 3 adults/carers.

📚 WORLD BOOK DAY📚

Reading with children is about much more than learning words on a page. Stories can help children understand emotions, develop imagination and build connections with others.

Reading together can support:
🧠Emotional understanding
💬Communication skills
💆‍♀️Relaxation and routine
🤩Confidence
🎨Creativity

For some children, books can also provide a safe way to explore feelings and experiences. Simple ways to encourage reading:

📚Let children choose their own books
🤏Read little and often
⏳Make reading part of a routine
💬Talk about the characters and stories
🥳Keep it relaxed and enjoyable

🫧 UNDERSTANDING SENSORY NEEDS 🫧

Many children, young people and adults experience the world in a sensory way — through sound, touch, movement, light and texture. Everyone processes sensory information differently, and these differences are a natural and important part of human development.

At times, certain sensory experiences may feel overwhelming, while at other times children and young people may seek additional sensory input that helps them feel more comfortable and settled.

Sensory needs can present in a variety of ways. Some examples may include:

👂 Covering ears in noisy environments
🤸‍♀️ Seeking movement such as swinging, climbing or jumping
🫂 Finding comfort in deep pressure such as hugs or weighted items
😴 Finding busy or highly stimulating places tiring
🤫 Preferring quieter or more predictable environments

These responses are often ways that individuals regulate themselves and make sense of the world around them.

Providing opportunities for safe and supportive sensory experiences can help individuals:

💆‍♀️ Feel calmer and more settled
🧠 Improve focus and attention
😌 Feel less overwhelmed
🩷 Develop self-awareness
⭐ Build confidence over time

Understanding sensory differences can help us to respond with patience, empathy and support, helping children and young people feel accepted and understood.

Anxiety in young people doesn’t always look like worry.

Sometimes it looks like:
• Avoiding school
• Tummy aches before social events
• Irritability or shutdown
• Trouble sleeping
• “I don’t feel well” with no clear cause

Anxiety is the body’s alarm system — but sometimes it goes off when we’re not in danger.

Early support can make a huge difference.
