On 12 March we published the information in the image below. Aware that some further European countries are temporarily suspending vaccinations using the AstraZeneca formula, we would like to reiterate the data:
The risk of DVT/PE in a healthy person is less than 1/1000 per year.
It is important to remember the risk of DVT/PE increases with age and that we are currently vaccinating the very oldest in our population.

Based on currently available data that indicates 37 cases per 17 million, who will be mainly over 60s, this is considered very low and less than the background risk associated in the general population.

The World Health Organisation (WHO), European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the UK Medicines Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have all issued statements and continue to confirm that current data does not suggest any association between an increased risk of DVT/PE and the AstraZeneca COVID vaccination.
