Turtle Medical

Turtle Medical An innovative manufacturer of defibrillator cabinets, bleed control cabinets and bleed control kits and supplier of medical equipment.

Turtle Medical was founded in 2011. It is a family-run business that designs, engineers and manufactures indoor and outdoor defibrillator cabinets to bespoke specifications. In 2020 it created the UK’s first bleed control cabinet and in 2023 the first solar and wind powered defib and bleed control cabinet. The company also supplies approved medical equipment and has numerous partnerships with charities, such as the Daniel Baird Foundation. Customers include UK-wide Police, Fire and Ambulance Services and local and parish councils, as well as railway stations and stadiums like St Pancras and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Molineux Stadium. Every element of a Turtle cabinet is manufactured in the UK and cabinets can be built to standard or bespoke specifications, meeting any branding or installation requirements and specifications linked to Listed Building status. Our defibrillator and bleed control cabinets are expertly engineered to keep the medical equipment secure and heat-regulated where required. All our cabinets are IP66 rated (fully waterproof and dustproof) and have the highest impact rating available (IK10); furthermore, we are the only company to hold this certification. Our cabinets can have remote monitoring systems added to them to allow custodians to check on the status of the cabinet at any time, giving them peace of mind about the status of the door, hook switch or temperature inside the cabinet. Registered company name: Turtle Engineering Ltd

🩸 Our partnership with The Daniel Baird Foundation began 5 years ago with the new concept of a publicly accessible bleed control cabinet. We’re extremely proud that they are now commonplace.

🚨 It’s also simple to add an emergency bleed kit to any existing defibrillator cabinet and the sticker we send will signpost people to it being a dual cabinet.

🖤 Our thoughts are with the victims and the countless people who have been affected by the violent attack on the train.

CrossCountry trains Network Rail Avanti West Coast West Midlands Railway South Western Railway Love Hull Trains and Severn Valley Railway are amongst those who have chosen to put The Daniel Baird Foundation bleed control kits on trains and in stations.

We think it’s time for all public transport operators – including coaches and buses – to carry trauma kits as standard.

❤️🩸You know us for our mission to safeguard people against cardiac arrest and bleed injuries, but we have other innovations that will prepare you to deal with two very common and scary medical emergencies.

Head over to our blog to learn more about the critical kits you need in your workplace to quickly manage a hypoglycaemic episode - also known as a diabetic hypo - or a choking incident 📈🍽️

✅ Both medical emergencies can happen without warning. Both can be fatal. And both can be managed effectively if the right tools are immediately available.

❓ You choose ❓ If your lung was collapsing from a catastrophic puncture wound, would you want a nearby emergency bleed control kit that contains a chest seal or one that doesn’t? 🩸

The Daniel Baird Foundation created the world’s first public kits in 2018 and has included chest seals inside since then. We proudly produce them.

Some producers do not put chest seals in their Public Access Bleed Kits. They say chest seals are intended for trained responders and if used incorrectly or in the wrong situation, they could cause serious complications.

We or The Daniel Baird Foundation have never received any reports from paramedics or hospital staff about one being used incorrectly, or that serious complications have arisen due to the use of a kit’s chest seal.

We do know that they have been used on numerous occasions and have saved lives.

The original The Daniel Baird Foundation kits were designed by the West Midlands Ambulance Service Officialwmas and leaders from across the UK’s Trauma Network, for use by anyone — trained or untrained — to control a catastrophic bleed until the time when paramedics can arrive on the scene.

Please watch this short video about how to use the Foxseal Vented Chest Seal that’s in the Foundation’s kits that we produce.

It’s absolutely your choice which emergency bleed kit you want for people in your community.

We should mention that although some kits don’t include a chest seal, they do contain a whistle.

🩸 Judy and Andrew at The Victory Club, Barton came to us needing a trauma dressing as the one in their The Daniel Baird Foundation kit had been used on Linda. They’ve also purchased a spare ‘just in case’. 😇

🦶 The Foundation had donated the emergency kit just a couple of months before and we’re glad it was on hand when the lady had a fall, and the bleeding was a serious concern.

Andrew explains… “Linda stumbled on our ramp leaving the club, but as she fell a large part of her leg had the skin torn off leaving a very large gash. Normal bandages could not cope with the amount of blood that came from it, so we turned to the bleed kit which was able to stop the worst of the bleeding until she got to the hospital.”

And pictured here are Daniel, who used the kit, with Linda who had the accident and Judy, The Victory Club’s Stewardess. Well done Daniel!

🍺 Judy is the Stewardess, running the bar. Andrew is the Club Secretary of the wonderful Committee which runs The Victory Club in Barton-upon Humber. 💞 We were delighted to hear more about their story and how they have improved facilities for their members and wider community, and how they fundraised for a defibrillator. Previously the club only had a basic first aid kit.

🔒👮‍♀️ As part of their commitment to a safe and strong community, the club is part of Pubwatch Lincolnshire and has made a pledge to the North Lincolnshire Council ‘Safer Nights’ Charter – “Everyone has the right to feel safe and enjoy their night out.” 👫👬👭

This is the type of community-minded venue you want to frequent – give this landlord and landlady a clap 👏

🐢 This beautiful Turtle news popped up so we just had to share it. The green turtle has been rescued from the brink of extinction in what scientists are calling a major conservation victory 📈

🌍🌎🌏 Thanks to decades of global conservation efforts - from protecting eggs and releasing hatchlings on beaches to reducing accidental capture in fishing nets - new data shows green turtle populations are rebounding.

Also, here’s also BBC Planet Earth clip of the cutest hatchlings heading down the beach to the sea for you to enjoy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE0qp3Yje6Q 🌊 Happy weekend!

From the moment they are born, these plucky Green Turtles from the Ascension Islands will face a huge battle to survive. Those that do survive, like their mo...

Our Story

Where it started

Turtle Engineering Ltd worked closely with Cardiac Science and Community First Responder Groups to develop a safe way to store Defibrillators in publically accessible locations.

Originally designed as “all weather” cabinets to withstand the harsh outdoor conditions in the UK, the cabinets proved to be just as in demand for indoor use. This was due to their high visibility and protection of the Defibrillator equipment.

Turtle Engineering Ltd understand that each different group may have different needs from a cabinet. So we have designed them to be flexible and easily personalised; adapted to our customer’s requirement.
