⛳ What a brilliant evening at Rugby Golf Club! ⛳

Sam and Laura had a fantastic time delivering their interactive talk “How to Play Golf Until You Are 100” to the club’s members last night. The room was buzzing with great questions, discussion, and plenty of light-bulb moments! 💡
Members learned practical, evidence-based strategies to keep their bodies strong, mobile, and resilient, helping them continue playing the golf they want to play — for longer and with more confidence.
A huge thank you to Rugby Golf Club for the warm welcome and engaged audience. We’re really excited about continuing our collaboration throughout 2026, including:
✔️ Free drop-in physio clinics at the club
✔️ More quarterly talks
✔️ Topics shaped around the real problems golfers want to solve
Watch this space — there’s lots more to come! 🙌

We have regularly used acupuncture in our practice for many years alongside our other skills and approaches. It can have the most transformative effect when used as part of an holistic treatment approach. ❤️

Acupuncture in Physiotherapy.

💭 Common misconception:
“Medical acupuncture is just an alternative add-on in physiotherapy.”

🔍 The reality:
Medical acupuncture is a clinically reasoned intervention, grounded in neurophysiology and evidence-informed practice. When used by appropriately trained physiotherapists, it is integrated into assessment, movement analysis, and rehabilitation - not applied in isolation.

For physiotherapists, medical acupuncture isn’t about treating a symptom in a vacuum. It’s about influencing pain, muscle tone, and motor control to support active recovery and meaningful movement 🧩➡️🚶‍♂️

💬 Reflection:
Are we underestimating the role of skilled clinical reasoning in how medical acupuncture is used within physiotherapy?

At AACP, we champion safe, evidence-based medical acupuncture that enhances physiotherapy practice and outcomes for patients 🎯

✨ Exercise Spotlight: Clam (Level 1) ✨
The Clam may look simple, but when done correctly, it’s one of the most effective exercises for hip stability.
This exercise helps to:
• Strengthen deep hip muscles
• Support knee, hip, and lower back health
• Improve pelvic control and alignment
• Reduce injury risk during everyday activities
In this video, our Pilates-trained physiotherapists demonstrate how to perform the Clam without compensations—a common issue when this exercise is done incorrectly.
Why physio-led Pilates matters:
✔️ We know which muscles should be working
✔️ We spot common mistakes that reduce effectiveness
✔️ We adapt exercises for pain, injury, or weakness
Because even “simple” exercises deserve expert guidance.

✨ Exercise Spotlight: Shoulder Bridge (Level 1) ✨
Shoulder Bridge is an excellent foundation exercise for building strength and control through the hips and spine.
This exercise helps to:
• Strengthen glutes and hamstrings
• Improve pelvic stability
• Support lower back health
• Enhance spinal articulation
In this video, two of our physio-trained Pilates instructors coach Shoulder Bridge with an emphasis on alignment, breath, and controlled movement—not just lifting higher.
Why be taught by physiotherapists?
✔️ We understand back pain and hip dysfunction
✔️ We ensure the right muscles are firing
✔️ We offer safe progressions and regressions
It’s not about how high you lift—it’s about how well you move.

✨ Exercise Spotlight: Scissors (Level 1) ✨
Scissors (Level 1) is a powerful core exercise that looks simple—but precision matters.
This exercise helps to:
• Strengthen your deep abdominal muscles
• Improve pelvic and lumbar stability
• Build leg control without overloading the back
• Support everyday movements like walking and bending
In this video, our Pilates-trained physiotherapists break down Scissors step-by-step, ensuring your core is doing the work—not your hip flexors or lower back.
Why Physio-led Pilates?
✔️ We know how to protect vulnerable backs and hips
✔️ We teach correct activation, not just the movement
✔️ We tailor exercises to your body and injury history
Small details = big results. This is Pilates done properly.

Anyone else feel like Twixmas exists in its own time zone?! 🤪

If you’re looking to move your body a little between Christmas and New Year—without committing to a full workout—Pilates is a great place to start!
Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing a short series of videos casting the spot light on some of our favourite Pilates exercises, taught by our Pilates-trained physiotherapists.
These are exercises we use every day in clinic to help people move better, feel stronger, and stay injury-free.

First up: the Roll Down - one of our all-time favourite Pilates exercises, and for good reason!
This exercise helps to:
• Improve spinal mobility
• Release tension through the neck and back
• Activate your deep core muscles
• Encourage better posture and body awareness
In today’s video, two of our Pilates-trained physiotherapists guide you through the Roll Down with a focus on control, breath, and spinal safety.
Why learn Pilates from physios?
✔️ We understand how your spine should move
✔️ We cue for common compensations and stiffness
✔️ We modify for back pain, injuries, or movement limitations
Pilates isn’t about forcing movement—it’s about moving well. And that’s where physio-led Pilates makes the difference.
