👻 We have a spooktacular time at Poplars Scare Home last week! Hope you had a fun Halloween too! 🎃

We created decorations, decorated cakes, enjoyed a fun photo booth session and welcomed Lara who entertained us for the afternoon.

We welcomed some special visitors from Waddestone Farm! Honey the pony and George the chicken attended on Saturday to visit residents for an animal assisted therapy session.

Consenting residents were supported by care staff and enjoyed a 1-2-1 interactive session.

These sessions support positive interaction, soothes residents living with dementia and provides support for those with anxiety.

A big thank you to their handlers Laura and her son Eddie. They were a hit in 2024 and residents were keen for them to return. We were grateful for the time they gave to make the session meaningful to so many.

We had a busy week last week where, amongst other activities, we held an outing to Esquires in Ruislip and a yoga chair class.

We enjoyed an outing to Northwood Medthodist Church where residents and staff joined in a choir singalong.

This even was organised by Community Connex Group ❤️

We had a lovely lunch afterwards and a chance to mingle and chat with other members of the community who attended.

A recent outing to Chai Bisket on 24th September. This cafe is the residents favourite lunch venue on Ruislip High street and they often request for monthly visits.

Perhaps it’s their generous portions or sweet treats? 😋

🍰 We held an outing to Esquires coffee shop yesterday. Residents were supported the short distance to the high street to enjoy food, drinks and a change of scenery.

👂Our residents have told us in our monthly meetings they enjoy these outings. You said, we listen!

Although autumn is drawing on, we continue to arrange our outings into the community ❤️

☕️ We hosted a coffee outing last weekend to Esquires on Ruislip High Street. The team there kindly allocate us a large table to enjoy our drinks and cakes.

Residents thoroughly enjoy these outings into the community - and thankfully we missed any rainy spells on our journey there and back

We are looking back at an action packed August! We had a variety of events from creative arts classes to an indulgent afternoon tea.

🎤🎵 We welcomed Rah Rah Theatre Company who performed an energetic medley of of Abba and disco songs at Poplars.

We sang along and danced all afternoon! 🎶

Well we certainly can’t predict the weather! But what will make do - we have given out plenty of blankets, and will enjoy an outdoor picnic with hot drinks.

We have residents from our sister care home, The Boyne in Ruislip Manor joining us. We will be playing some games later which will include staff tug of war and the three legged race!

🫖 We enjoy sharing the small touches that we make - such as an impromptu afternoon tea that we held last week.

🥪 Complete with china service and teapots, the Home’s kitchen arranged for sandwiches, strawberries and cream and lots of tea to be enjoyed by residents.
