This week was our 473rd week of Monday Night Running, and our 316th virtual MNR. Despite the holiday weekend, there were plenty of Dashers still running, with 24 participating in the MNR.

Dashers were also active elsewhere, with: Claire, Hannah (and Matt), Iain, and Lucy completing the Beaconsfield 5 (8k), and 6 others (with Dash For Fitness registered as their club) doing Parkruns, with Hannah's at Cheltenham being the fastest and furthest. The Betsons were also out in force at the Ricky Parkrun, celebrating Lucy's 21st.

Last week also saw the start of our 5k Masterclass medal challenge, where, at the optional group interval session at the track, Claire, Fiona, John, Susmita, and Simon all smashed their 6*400m targets.

If you'd like to do a virtual MNR, anywhere in the world between 5pm Sunday and 11am Tuesday, including this week’s informal Monday Night group Run at 6.30pm in Ruislip Lido (meet at the first entrance on Reservoir Road), please register at: https://clubspark.englandathletics.org/RunTogether/DashForFitness

This week was our 472nd week of Monday Night Running, and our 315th virtual MNR. And a shout out for Sarah, as it was her 250th MNR 🥳 Talking about achievements, Claire and Rajeshree both completed the Kew Gardens Half Marathon, with the latter getting a new PB. And a record 14 Dashers did Parkruns, with Susmita's one at Palermo taking the "furthest away" prize.

I should also say that, on hearing the news of her 250, Sarah said: "Wow, I didn't realise I'd done so many MNRs, especially as I stopped running for over a year when life became a bit too busy! I came back because I missed running and I missed the people. Dash for Fitness is such a friendly and supportive group. It doesn't matter whether you're wanting to walk 5k or train for an ultramarathon, everyone's welcome and encouraged to achieve their fitness goals."

If that sounds like something you'd like, then why not sign up to do a virtual MNR, anywhere in the world between 5pm Sunday and 11am Tuesday, including this week’s informal Monday Night group Run at 6.30pm in Broadwood Avenue (meet at the Kings College Cafe car park), please register at: https://clubspark.englandathletics.org/DashForFitness/Coaching

This week was our 471st week of Monday Night Running, and our 314th virtual MNR. It was great to welcome newbies Susmita and John at the informal group MNR, and be able to present Maria and Claire with their medals for "The 28" Challenge.

It's been a great week for achievements with: Dawn doing the Rome Marathon; Maria completing the Hillingdon AC 20-Mile Race (H20), of which Preeti did a lap as a half-marathon recovery run!; Claire finishing the Windsor 10k Trail Run, and 9 Dashers doing Parkruns. Word of thanks also to all the fabulous H20 marshals, of which Iain was one, and to Ken, Suzy N, and Lauren (plus Craig) for cheering everyone on.

This week was our 470th week of Monday Night Running, and our 313th virtual MNR. And it was great to be able to present Debbie with a medal for completing her 300th MNR. We had 16 Dashers taking part, whilst 9 Dashers took part in Parkruns, with Hannah's Glasgow parkrun taking the prize for furthest travelled.

We also held the first of our quarterly socials organised by me, where I presented medals for our last challenge (the 28), and hosted a guess the challenge team game. The next quarterly social will be mid-June (and the newly-formed social team of Jane R, Jane W, Judith, Karin, and Maria are also planning others).

This week was our 468th week of Monday Night Running, and our 311th virtual MNR. It was also great to see Siobhan still doing virtuals, despite having moved away from the area a few years ago. Elsewhere, Claire completed the Hyde Park 10k, and 15 Dashers took part in Parkruns: with 12 of them at Harrow helping Jane R celebrate her 250th! 🥳

The end of our "28" challenge, saw 4 more people earn participant medals by passing the 2*28=56k target – congratulations Debbie, Kalpna, Preeti, and Suzy N. And, despite having already completed the original community challenge, the participants delivered a bumper per person daily average of 5.3k, compared to 4.5k in previous weeks.

This week was our 467th week of Monday Night Running, and our 310th virtual MNR. And it was great to be able to present Ken with a medal for his 200th MNR. Elsewhere, 7 Dashers took part in Parkruns, with Jane and Ken taking the prize for most travelled, as they completed the Highcliffe Beach Parkrun.

Meanwhile, week 3 of our "28" February challenge, saw SEVEN more people earn participant medals by passing the 2*28=56k target - congratulations Anita, Carey, Graham, Jill, Julia, Siobhan, and Suzy T. And, 8 days ahead of time, the participants collectively completed the 28*56=1568k community target. They now need a bumper week to hit the bonus 2828k target.

Very many congratulations to my client Nicky. Who, after completing a bespoke 5k to 10k training plan with me, overcame a cold, wet, and windy Sunday morning to complete the London Winter 10k in a great time.

This week was our 466th week of Monday Night Running, and our 309th virtual MNR. And shout outs are due (overdue) for Iain completing his 150th MNR; and for Claire completing her 250th. They're both now chasing medals (200 and 300 respectively).

Prior to that, on a wet and cold Sunday morning, many congratulations were earned by Beth, Cliff, Judith, Lauren, and Nicky for completing the London Winter 10k; and by Hannah, Iain, Matt, Orlaith, and Rohit for doing the same at the Harrow Hill 10k, with a special mention to super supporter Ken for getting everyone up THAT hill (twice!). Elsewhere, on a drier and sunnier Saturday, 10 Dashers took part in Parkruns, with Marie taking the prize for most travelled, as she completed the York Parkrun (which may not have been as dry and sunny).

Meanwhile, week 2 of our "28" February challenge, amazingly, saw SEVEN more people earn their participant medals by passing the 2*28=56k target - congratulations Arunima, Claire, Jane, Judith, Karin, Maria, and Sarah. And, collectively, the 21 participants upped their activity: amassing 700.3k (100k/day), compared to last week's 87.8k/day. Meaning they're smashing the 28*56=1568k target, whilst being just a tad behind the 2828k bonus one.

10 reasons why you should register for a Virtual Monday Night Run (as opposed to just planning to do a run/walk)

1. Registering commits/motivates you to do a run/walk.
2. There’s accountability as, if you don’t run/post, I’ll check why.
3. You have the option of joining the informal group MNR.
4. Posting you’ve done one, makes you feel good....
5. ….and motivates/encourages others to run/walk.
6. You get a shout out once you complete 50 MNRs.
7. You get a Dash for Fitness MNR Mug for completing 100.
8. You get a shout out once you complete 150 and 250.
9. You get a medal for completing 200, 300, 400, (etc.)
10. If you stop registering, I’ll often check all is okay with you.

Registering shows intent but, to realise most benefits, you’ll need to let me know it’s done, by:
• messaging me direct, or in our (by invitation) Whatsapp group, or in our latest Facebook or Instagram post. Ideally, with a photo you’re happy for me to use; or
• coming along to our informal group MNR, where you get the added social and motivational benefits of running/walking with enthusiastic and encouraging people.

Mugs and medals are presented at our socials (usually quarterly) or can be collected at informal group runs (if I know you’re attending). Those hitting milestones are informed directly, as well as getting shout outs in Facebook posts. I’m also going to start using our Whatsapp group to highlight who is approaching a milestone. And you can ask your current MNR count at any time.

So, if you'd like to do a VMNR, anywhere in the world (between 5pm Sunday and 11am Tuesday), including at our informal group VMNR in Broadwood Ave (meeting at Kings College Cafe car park at 6.30pm), please register at: Clubspark / Dash For Fitness / Coaching

This week was our 465th week of Monday Night Running, and our 308th virtual MNR.

Many congratulations to Debbie for her 300th MNR (the 4th person, after Dawn, Karin, and Suzy N to reach that milestone) and to Ken for his 200th - they'll both be able to collect their medals at our next (now quarterly) social on March 16th. Watch out for more on MNR milestones in a follow-up post.

The other major achievement of the week was Iain placing first in the South Oxhey parkrun - a truly inspirational performance. We also had another 7 Dashers taking part in Parkruns. And, elsewhere, Maria completed the Iconic Dubai Half Marathon (starting before 7am to avoid the "worst" of the heat)

Meanwhile, week 1 of our Feb 28 challenge saw Dave and Dawn already both completing the 2*28=56k 4-week individual target! And, collectively, the 20 participants did 527k, that's way ahead of the 336k needed to be on track for the 28*56=1568k community target (although I have got a "bonus" 2828k target up my sleeve)
