10 reasons why you should register for a Virtual Monday Night Run (as opposed to just planning to do a run/walk)

1. Registering commits/motivates you to do a run/walk.
2. There’s accountability as, if you don’t run/post, I’ll check why.
3. You have the option of joining the informal group MNR.
4. Posting you’ve done one, makes you feel good....
5. ….and motivates/encourages others to run/walk.
6. You get a shout out once you complete 50 MNRs.
7. You get a Dash for Fitness MNR Mug for completing 100.
8. You get a shout out once you complete 150 and 250.
9. You get a medal for completing 200, 300, 400, (etc.)
10. If you stop registering, I’ll often check all is okay with you.

Registering shows intent but, to realise most benefits, you’ll need to let me know it’s done, by:
• messaging me direct, or in our (by invitation) Whatsapp group, or in our latest Facebook or Instagram post. Ideally, with a photo you’re happy for me to use; or
• coming along to our informal group MNR, where you get the added social and motivational benefits of running/walking with enthusiastic and encouraging people.

Mugs and medals are presented at our socials (usually quarterly) or can be collected at informal group runs (if I know you’re attending). Those hitting milestones are informed directly, as well as getting shout outs in Facebook posts. I’m also going to start using our Whatsapp group to highlight who is approaching a milestone. And you can ask your current MNR count at any time.

So, if you'd like to do a VMNR, anywhere in the world (between 5pm Sunday and 11am Tuesday), including at our informal group VMNR in Broadwood Ave (meeting at Kings College Cafe car park at 6.30pm), please register at: Clubspark / Dash For Fitness / Coaching

This week was our 465th week of Monday Night Running, and our 308th virtual MNR.

Many congratulations to Debbie for her 300th MNR (the 4th person, after Dawn, Karin, and Suzy N to reach that milestone) and to Ken for his 200th - they'll both be able to collect their medals at our next (now quarterly) social on March 16th. Watch out for more on MNR milestones in a follow-up post.

The other major achievement of the week was Iain placing first in the South Oxhey parkrun - a truly inspirational performance. We also had another 7 Dashers taking part in Parkruns. And, elsewhere, Maria completed the Iconic Dubai Half Marathon (starting before 7am to avoid the "worst" of the heat)

Meanwhile, week 1 of our Feb 28 challenge saw Dave and Dawn already both completing the 2*28=56k 4-week individual target! And, collectively, the 20 participants did 527k, that's way ahead of the 336k needed to be on track for the 28*56=1568k community target (although I have got a "bonus" 2828k target up my sleeve)

Today, I’m celebrating 10 years as an England Athletics qualified running coach.

That’s a decade of helping people get Fitter, go Faster, and go Further, whilst also getting healthier. And I’m looking forward to many more years, as there’s no better feeling than the one I get when someone I’ve coached achieves something they never thought they would.

I’ve also spent those 10 years learning about the evolving science of running (and about complimentary topics such as body conditioning, nutrition, and recovery). And I’m looking forward to continuing to acquire such knowledge, sharing it with those I coach, and utilising it for my own running, health, and fitness goals.

If you’d like to work towards a running goal by getting fitter, running faster and/or running further (anything from 100m to a 100k Ultra), then please get in touch to book a professional 1-1 training programme with a England Athletics Running Coach (me)!

This week was our 464th week of Monday Night Running, and our 307th virtual MNR.

It was great to see Debbie and Sarah back at the informal group MNR, and Suzy N doing her longest run since returning from injury. I was also pleased to be able to hand out medals from our December "Fuel Rudolf" challenge to Debbie, Jo, and Sue N.

Talking of challenges, our latest one started on Sunday: "The 28" requires individuals to complete (in February) any combination of running and walking amounting to 56k (e.g. 28k walking and 28k running), and there’s a community challenge to do 28*56=1568k.

The highlight of the weekend was seeing Beth, Karin, and Preeti complete the very hilly Watford Half Marathon; and Judith complete the very muddy Watford 10k. In addition, 10 Dashers participated in Parkruns.

This week was our 463rd week of Monday Night Running, and our 306th virtual MNR. And it was great to see Arunima come out of hibernation to do a run. Also a word for Claire, whose VMNR was walking to the ski lift! Every metre counts!

At Dash for Fitness, we're proud to support everyone looking to get fitter, go faster, and/or go further. And the latter was something that Alex, Iain, Paul and Rohit definitely did on Sunday, completing the Arc 25 - a 40k coastal path race from St Ives to Porthtown!

The last week also saw 11 Dashers participating in Saturday Parkruns, including Shama who, along with 205 others, did the brand new one at Holywell/Watford (King George V Playing Fields).

This week was our 458th week of Monday Night Running. It was also our 301st virtual MNR (VMNR), having celebrated our 300th at last week's Dash Christmas social, where the Christmas Quiz was won by Lucy's Elves.

At the social, I also presented 100th MNR mugs to Graham and Jill, 200th MNR medals to Carey and Sarah, and a 300th MNR medal to Suzy N (the 3rd person ever to reach that milestone). As well as numerous challenge medals to numerous people that had not previously picked them up.

The last fortnight has also seen 11 Dashers participate in Parkrun events; Suzy N (encouraged by Dawn) complete her first continuous 5k since breaking her ankle; and the Rudolf Challenge participants get within 22,000 (

This week was our 455th week of Monday Night Running. And it was great to see Paul back at the group run. It was also our 298th virtual MNR (VMNR), so now only 2 weeks away from the 300th and the celebratory Christmas social.

The week also saw 8 Dashers participate in Parkrun events, Claire complete the Hatfield 5, and the start of our latest medal challenge (involving doing sufficient activty to fuel Rudolf for 24 hours on Christmas Eve).
