Research shows nearly one in three people entitled to cervical screening – women and people with a cervix aged 25 and over do not regularly attend.

Today marks International HPV awareness day and it’s the perfect time to shed some light on the virus and how it can affect our sexual health.

HPV is a group of over 200 viruses that are spread by skin-to-skin contact. Most of the time HPV doesn't cause any problems but some types of HPV - the ones that are spread by sexual contact - can increase the risk of cancer. Although usually painless, they can be unpleasant to look at and distressing for some people with the infection.
