JOIN ME ON THE MAT πŸ™πŸ» WEDNESDAY 7pm - 8pm Reform Physio and FIT

My classes are designed to intergrate strength, balance and calm. So that you leave feeling revitalised both in body and mind.

🩡 We start with gentle breath work and body scan, allowing you to balance the nervous system and let go.

🩡 Then slowly raising from the ground, we work though a variety of movements and flows.

🩡 Finally moving back down to earth for a guided meditation. Letting the body ground and revitalis from all the wonderful movements.

What can you expect from my classes..

🧑 Embodied movements so that you can flow with how you feel that day.

🧑 Moving with control and awaness - no lazy cores here - flowing slowly to build strength and understanding in the body

🧑 Having some fun. There is always space to ask questions and time to try something a bit different. Particularly with balances, I love taking time to explore poses with everyone finding their own variation.

🧑 Finding stillness. It's often hard to find the time to give yourself moments of true calm, but in each class through breath awaness and guided relaxation there is this time so you can recharge.

A pose I get asked about often. Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) makes an appearance in almost all yoga flows, and for good reason.

It has a huge number of benifits:
🌟 Strengthening the arms, torso and legs
🌟 Stretches the hamstrings
🌟 Opens the spine and shoulders
🌟 Improves blood circulation, delivering oxygenated blood to the brain

To name a few!

But often, we aren't enjoying the full range of these benefits, having never had the alignment broken down and rather just putting ourselves into a shape we think is right. I speak from experience here - it wasn't until doing yoga for over 10 years that I was finally shown and it felt like a new pose!

I hope this little video helps answer some of those questions often asked about practising Downward Dog. And maybe encourages even long-standing yogis to try and feel into it a little differently.

I would love to hold space for you as we explore movement and breath to nurture and restore.

My classes are open to everyone whether you are a beginner or a regular yogi. There is no exception and no judgement, with variations given so you can find poses your own way.

My classes start from the ground up. Beginning with gentle guided relaxation / breathwork to help you arrive and calm the nervous system. We then gradually build momentum - flowing movements with the breath and taking time withing posture to build strength and ground. There is always the invitation to find your play in posture, making things a little more spicy or slowing down to feel truly embodied. Finally winding back down for a few last seated postures. Then ending with a guided meditation 🧑

Classes held in the lovely studio in Little Chesterford Reform Physio and FIT CB10 1UD ✨️ all equipment is provided so you need nothingbut yourself πŸ’™

EFT tapping and my anxiety πŸ‘‡πŸ»

WHAT IS EFT?

EFT tapping is a technique that involves tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points on the body. It combines acupressure with a psychological element, using a sequence of tapping points (such as the side of the eye, above the lip, the collarbone). The goal is to release energy blockages and calm the body's fight-or-flight response.

*Little science as we tap the space above the collarbone, it may also stimulate our Vagus nerve aiding the calming of the nervous system into a parasympathetic state*

HOW I USE EFT

As someone who struggles with anxiety and panick attacks, EFT tapping was recommended to me by a homoeopath as a tool to calm my nervous system and bring me back into my body. I have found it a great tool when heading into an anxiety spiral. It gives my brain a single pointed focus while simultaneously giving my body a sensation to focus on. This distracts both the overwhelming thoughts and uncomfortable feelings in the body that come along with anxiety.

HOW TO DO EFT TAPPING

Find your own way. If there are points that feel more soothing, stay there. If one point, you find triggering move on. You can count your taps or allow them to be organic.

Simply take the time to try it and see how you feel.

As we transition into winters dark evenings, it is the perfect time to discover space to nurture and move your body though yoga.

My classes are open to all whether you are a beginner or looking to find a new practice.

Held in the lovely Little Chesterford studio at Reform Physio and FIT a cosy studio, fully equipped with easy parking.

You need to bring nothing but yourself for an hour to stretch, strengthen, restore and nurture your body ✨️

πŸ‘‡πŸ» A meditation visualisation I often return to 🩡

πŸ’™ Imagine yourself by a pond, a lake, or a calm body of water that is significant to you.

πŸ’™ Sit and watch the surface of the water and imagine this to be your mind.
🩡 Each thought, a ripple or wave that for a moment effects the surface. But always fades and disappears, revealing the clear surface of the water once again.

πŸ’™ If you have particular worries or stresses weighing on your mind.
🩡 Imagine these as stones sat by your side.
🩡 Pick up a stone and acknowledge a single thought attached to this.
🩡 Now throw the stone into the water. Watch it sink and watch the ripples fade.
🩡 Repeat this with any number of stones, allowing each worry to sink, its ripples to fade, as you're reminded of the true calm nature of your mind πŸͺ·
