A huge thank you to Co-op Funeralcare in St Albans for their incredibly kind Easter Egg donation for our residents! 🐣💛

They organised a wonderful Easter Egg collection, inviting the local community to contribute—and the response has been amazing.

A special thank you to Shelli and Peter for delivering the eggs this morning. Our residents are going to absolutely love them! 🍫😊

🌳🍏 An Orchard at The Orchard – A Labour of Love for Resident Jean 🍏🌳

We’re so proud to share a special project close to our hearts here at The Orchard Nursing Home 💚

When we discovered the Thatchers Community Orchard Project, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to create something meaningful for both our residents and the environment. We were thrilled to be selected to receive 10 apple trees—an exciting moment for everyone involved! Thatchers Cider

With the help of our wonderful gardener Nicky, maintenance team member Steve, and most importantly our lovely resident Jean, the orchard has now begun to take shape 🌱

Jean has a lifelong love of gardening, and being part of planting these trees has brought her so much joy. From reminiscing about her own garden filled with flowers and homegrown produce, to getting hands-on with this new project—it’s been truly special to see 💐

This orchard is more than just trees; it’s about wellbeing, memories, and creating something that will grow for years to come. We can’t wait to watch it flourish and be enjoyed by all our residents 🍃

Our residents enjoyed a wonderfully fun and engaging sensory activity today at The Orchard! 🌸👃

We explored a range of different smells – from beautiful fresh flowers and delicious cake, to something a little more unexpected… feet! 😄 It certainly got everyone talking, laughing, and sharing their thoughts.

One resident couldn’t help but joke, “I’ll stick with the cake and flowers, thank you very much!” 🍰🌼

Activities like these are a great way to spark memories, encourage conversation, and bring lots of smiles all around 💛

We were delighted to welcome the gospel choir back to The Orchard to sing for our residents! 🎶💛

Their powerful voices and uplifting songs filled the room with joy, bringing smiles, clapping, and even a few singalongs from everyone. It’s always such a special moment when they visit, and our residents truly cherish the experience.

A huge thank you to the choir for sharing their time and talent with us once again – we’re already looking forward to the next visit!

🐾 Darcy’s Visits Bring So Much Joy! 🐾

Darcy the therapy dog always enjoys coming to the home to spend time with our residents 🐶💛 Her visits are filled with gentle cuddles, happy moments, and lots of wagging tails!

Our residents are always so pleased to see her – she truly brightens everyone’s day and brings smiles all around 😊✨

We’re already looking forward to her next visit!

Our residents made the most of the sunshine, coming together for a lovely afternoon of chats, refreshing drinks, and a few friendly games of Scrabble. Laughter, conversation, and a little bit of healthy competition filled the air as everyone enjoyed each other’s company 💛

A big thank you to our talented chef, Rod, for treating us to the most delicious cupcakes topped with beautiful Irish green icing. They were as tasty as they were festive! 🧁💚

Our residents had a fantastic time celebrating St Patrick’s Day with some creative crafts! ☘️💚

From making shamrocks to decorating festive artwork, there were plenty of smiles, laughter, and a wonderful sense of togetherness. It’s always so special to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the celebrations.

A lovely way to bring a bit of Irish cheer into our home! 🌈✨

Spending some lovely Daisy time today 🐶💛

Our wonderful resident enjoyed some special moments with Daisy, joined by family too – lots of smiles, gentle cuddles, and happy memories made together. Daisy always knows just how to brighten the day!

Of course, she also knows exactly where to go for her favourite biscuits… and she never forgets to check! 🍪🐾
