🎄 Boxing Day Thank You 🎄

This Boxing Day, we’d like to take a moment to say a huge thank you to both our patients and our incredible staff for their continued support and hard work throughout the year.

Between 13 January 2025 and 23 December 2025, our surgery processed nearly 42,000 eConsults. Our busiest week was commencing 2 June 2025, when we handled over 1,000 eConsults. Mondays remain our busiest day, with 200–300 eConsults received every Monday (excluding bank holidays).

💙 To our patients — thank you for continuing to use eConsult. This helps us triage your enquiries fairly and appropriately so we can provide the right care at the right time.

👏 To our staff — thank you for your dedication and hard work, especially with managing eConsults. A huge thank you to those who do their utmost to contact patients within 24 hours, often under significant pressure.

We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and support.

From everyone at the surgery, we wish you a peaceful Boxing Day and a healthy year ahead.

On behalf of everyone at The Lodge Health Partnership, we would like to wish all our patients a very happy and peaceful holiday season.

A reminder for patients submitting an eConsult today (Christmas Eve):
• We will do our absolute utmost to respond to all enquiries before we close.
• If you submit an eConsult after 5:00pm and do not hear from us, please do not wait until Monday.
• If you are contacting us with symptoms and have not received a response by 6:30pm, please call NHS 111 for medical advice.

⚠️ If you need medical advice and have not heard from us, do not delay in seeking help.

📌 eConsult will reopen on Sunday evening at 6:00pm, ready for the surgery reopening on Monday morning at 8:00am.

Our wonderful Reception Lead Maxine, has only gone and won Receptionist of the year at the National General Practice Awards!!!!

She continuously demonstrates a steadfast commitment to her role and our patients and we are so pleased this has been recognised.

She is very adaptable, cool in a crisis and always coming up with ideas for improvements. She is part of our social and green committee and is a very supportive lead of her team.

Maxine had been at the Lodge for over 20 years and has seen numerous changes happen within the that time, including the push for more digital healthcare, the merger of the St Albans and Redbourn Practices, welcoming new staff com and of course a pandemic.

Max couldn’t make the awards as was with the team celebrating at the Lodge Christmas Party. Well done to Max, this is so well deserved!

Our frailty team; Nurses Clare and Georgina, Pharmacist Liz, Pharmacy tech Alison, Social Prescribers Sandra and Bron and GP Dr Power were finalists as GP Team of the Year at this years General Practice Awards!!! We are so proud.

This team pioneered a Project involving a regular multi-disciplinary meeting with the local Psychiatric Service to support those with Dementia in Care Homes which has seen fantastic results; reduced hospital admissions, reduced need for prescribed drugs to manage agitation and much improved links between the practice, the care homes we cover and the elderly psychiatry team which supports the NHS plan for better integration. The team really enjoy this way of working and other Practices are now replicating this model.

The team are now reaching more of our patients by conducting more frailty reviews in clinics or at patients homes and regularly meeting to discuss complex cases, exploring how they can optimise health and quality of life and putting patients wishes first.

It was such a treat to get dressed up and attend the award Ceremony ✨
