Check your b***s gang.

One of my lovely clients has recently had a breast cancer diagnosis. She has had her first surgery and came back to class for the first time today. There were things she couldn’t manage and we found a way round them or found other things for her to do. Whenever you come to class with me, know that I will find a way to make it work - sometimes just turning up and being on the mat is enough to make a difference to how you feel. Showing up for yourself matters.

When she sent me this lovely email afterwards I asked if I could share it as a reminder for us all - it’s so easy to forget that we can make a difference to our health outcomes with something as simple as checking our b***s. She had a mammogram 6 months before her cancer was picked up after finding some skin dimpling and the mammogram was all clear. If she hadn’t been on top of her b**b checks, she could still be walking around not knowing that she needed treatment.

I am so lucky to work with so many amazing and inspiring women who teach me so much and it is such an honour to feel like my classes and support makes a difference to people when they are facing the hardest of times. Last year I started running a Pilates for Menopause class, not really knowing how it would be received — and I’ve been completely blown away by the response. The sessions have been so popular that I’m really excited to say I’m now adding a second class on Tuesdays at 9.30am at St Paul’s Church.

As our bodies change through our 40s and beyond, strength becomes so important — not just for muscles and bones, but for confidence, balance, energy and everyday life. These classes keep my usual gentle, supportive and focused Pilates style, but with the addition of light weights and a bigger emphasis on building strength in a safe, manageable way.

These sessions are about feeling stronger, not pushing harder. They’re inclusive, welcoming and suitable for anyone who wants to move more, build strength, and take some time for themselves — whether menopause is front of mind for you or you’re simply looking to add some purposeful exercise into your week.

If you’ve been thinking about starting Pilates, coming back to movement, or trying something that truly supports where your body is right now, you’d be so welcome 🤍

I love this pic of me and my bubs on our first holiday to Norfolk ❤️ but the first thing I thought when I looked at it today was “wow look at my posture!”

See how my pelvis is swinging forwards? When you are holding a baby and your pelvis shifts forwards and your ribs lean back, all that lovely baby weight bears right down into your pelvic floor.

Over time that pressure can:
👉 Increase pelvic floor tension
👉 Make prolapse tension feel worse
👉 Stop your abdominals doing their job properly

Try this instead:
✅ Bring your hips over your heels
✅ Stack your ribs over your pelvis
✅ Connect to your abdominal muscles

You’ll feel taller, stronger - and your pelvic floor will thank you!!

New term in person starts on Wednesday evening - bring it on! Most classes are full but spaces online and on Monday mornings in the Every Mum sessions.

She asked me to take a picture of her hair. How stunning is it?? 💫

Everyone else is asleep in our holiday hotel room and I’m sitting here scrolling through post after post about the genocide in Palestine. The contrast feels unbearable — the soft sweetness of this moment with her, and the unfathomable grief and loss so many mothers are facing right now.⁣

Motherhood sharpens everything — the joy, the fear, the love, the heartbreak.⁣

I might be hopeless with Instagram grids, I don’t know how to repost onto here, but I’m sharing as much as I can in my stories. Please don’t look away. Please bear witness.

There are no words for what is happening in Gaza right now. For me it has nothing to do with religion. It’s humanity. We all have a responsibility to do what we can, whether it is to share a post, to change your bank account to a bank that doesn’t support genocide (co-op, Starling, monzo), write to your mp, attend a march, sinn go a petition, share a post. It might not be much but staying silent is not an option. I know what side of history I want to be on.

I haven’t been showing up much on social media lately. I schedule posts in advance to keep my business marketing going but honestly it all feels just hideous to me when all I want to post about is Gaza and how the hell we are all carrying on with our lives when we are living through a genocide. I was planning to come on here and share about how much I miss my daughter this week while she’s on her year 6 residential but then I just felt like talking about that while 11 year old Palestinians are suffering like they are is hideous too.

I love my job, I want to show up here with advice and support but when I even have the energy to pick up my iPhone (yay for my ) it feels like not talking about Palestine is just wrong. So here I am, in my new jumper, from my sofa where I’ve been working and watching Love Island Aftersun (thanks .womenshealth) and just admitting that showing up in the online world is a lot for me right now.
