Today our CEO Camille Leavold will receive her MBE in recognition of her service and dedication to the social care sector.

Under her leadership, Abbots Care has spent 30 years supporting people in the community. What began in 1995 as a small family run business has grown into one of Hertfordshire’s leading home care providers, rated Outstanding by the CQC for the third consecutive time.

Camille’s ethos has always been to champion the adult social care sector as a whole. Growing up in a family deeply committed to care, she developed first hand experience from an early age and has since gone on to represent the sector on industry panels and as a non-executive board member of the Homecare Association.

"When we started Abbots Care in 1995, it felt natural to focus on care, compassion and service. With a lot of enthusiasm and very little investment, Abbots Care was up and running. What began as a family of three care workers supporting a handful of people, has grown into something I now barely recognise. I am overwhelmed by the number of caring people who work here and the support we are able to deliver to more than 1,000 people in the community."

Congratulations Camille on building something truly outstanding 🎉

We reached our goal! 🌟

Over 100 hours of voluntary companionship delivered to members of our community, and we couldn't be prouder.

Winter can be a really challenging time. The shorter days and the colder weather often exacerbate feelings of loneliness, so for the second year in a row, our central support team and care workers delivered over 100 hours of voluntary companionship.

One of our core company values is 'recruiting caring people' and to complete such an amazing project, that has benefitted the lives of so many people this winter, is a testament to this value in action 💙

Thanks to everyone that took part to help us reach our goal.

Thanks to Mix 92.6 for having us in the studio to talk all things Abbots Care this morning 💙🧡

Our Care Director Sarah discussed a range of topics, including the difference between home care and care homes, what it means to be regulated and rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, and the wide range of care services we provide.

We are proud to support people with a variety of care needs in our community, and none of this would be possible without our dedicated and compassionate care team.

Two of our Care Workers, Roberta and Madeline, took part in HCPA ‘Careers in Care’ project yesterday.

They shared honest reflections on their journeys into care, the challenges they have faced, and how their roles have helped them grow both personally and professionally. Their interviews will be used to educate and inspire more people to consider a meaningful career in care 💙

'I went to visit Maureen this evening, we had a good giggle and Maureen shared the beautiful pictures of her great grand babies and dressed up to show me the outfit she will be wearing for a wedding she will be attending at the weekend. She will look fabulous! I also showed Maureen how to put her new fascinator in place and we chose a lipstick to glam her up for the special day.'

Thanks to Abbots Care Facilitator Courtney and client Maureen for sharing this lovely moment 💙

Our companionship visits are being made even more special with tea kindly provided by Bird & Blend Tea Co. Sometimes a simple cuppa is all it takes to start a proper conversation.

46% of people with spinal cord injuries who had been inpatients in the past two years felt that their bowel care was managed poorly.

This was according to the Spinal Injuries Association latest 'What Matters Survey'.

The impact spinal injuries can have on bowel function are often overlooked which is why February 10th now marks 'National Paralysed Bowel Care Awareness Day'.
