It was a pleasure to welcome Daisy Cooper, MP for St Albans, to Abbots Care head office this week.

During her visit, our team shared how they organise care rounds and maximise daily capacity to deliver a responsive and efficient service. They highlighted the level of planning, problem solving, and day to day coordination involved in supporting large and complex commissioned care packages, and how providers like Abbots Care adapt to meet changing needs.

Daisy also joined one of our care workers on two community care calls, seeing firsthand how we support people to continue living independently at home.

She also met members of our wider team across the organisation, including Peggy and Betsy, our office dogs! 🐶

Thank you for visiting, Daisy!

'I spent a lovely hour with Marguerite this weekend. We had a cup of tea and some Victoria sponge. She told me all about her life, and we have a really lovely time. I'm going back in a few weeks to take her out for a coffee'.

Our volunteers are out in the community, making a real difference 💙 Thanks to Jazz and Marguerite for sending this to us.

Mental health is just as important as physical health which is why we are so passionate about bringing the community to our clients.

Our Abbots Friends volunteers host tea parties and offer companionship in the community, which is especially important during winter when getting out can be harder.

We interviewed Abbots Friends volunteer Rubie about her experience as an Abbots Friends volunteer, read it here - https://abbotscare.com/blog/interview-with-a-companionship-volunteer/

'we did a crossword together, which he does every day, he told me all about his family, his career, and motorbikes which is one of his passions. Volunteering was a great experience'. 💙

This Good Care Month we wanted to share this clip with Bailey Greetham-Clark from Old Friend Club and Be Great Fitness

Bailey's work in care settings across the country highlights how personalisation and relationship building can elevate standards of care. Helping those who could easily be left out engage in exercise and activities 🌟

January marks the first part of HCPA 'Good Care Campaign', aiming to spotlight the amazing work of care professionals across the UK whilst showcasing care as a fulfilling and viable career choice.

Our care team is full of amazing career stories, and we have really enjoyed highlighting them. Previously, we spoke with Roberta, who traded a career in interior design to become a Care Worker. She spoke about her drive and passion to make a positive difference in people's lives, something that was missing in her previous career.
