Getting involved in the community is very important to us, that might be attending a coffee morning, a fair, a prize bingo, as well as organising many community events. Every year David and Rachel attend, along with some of the family, the Annual Christmas Singalong at St John's Church, raising money for a child in need. (Even if you didn't see David, you may well of heard him!!). This year David was wearing a particularly festive jumper as snapped here by local photographer Paul Williams.

Today Grief Awareness Week begins.

As funeral directors, we are reminded every day that grief has no timetable, no rulebook, and no “right” way to feel. Each person has a unique journey, when it comes to grief, and every feeling along the way is valid.
This week, is an opportunity to recognise that grief is not something to “get over,” but something we learn to live with. It deserves space, compassion, and understanding.
If you’re grieving, please know:
- You are not alone
- Your story matters

Support is available, and it’s okay to ask for it
Our thoughts are with everyone that might be suffering a loss, no matter how long ago it was. Recognise that it is still ok for it to hurt xx

If you’re choosing a memorial for a loved one in a churchyard, it’s important to know there are specific regulations that must be followed.

These rules typically cover:
• Maximum and minimum headstone sizes
• Approved stone materials (for example slate and granite)
• Finish (no high-polish or reflective surfaces)
• Lettering styles (subtle matt colours only)
• No Photos
• Crosses and ledgers may be allowed but must follow size limits and design guidance

Anything outside these guidelines may need a special church faculty (permission).

Cemeteries are a lot more relaxed to what you can have for a memorial.

Your chosen monumental mason will guide you through the process and help you find a memorial that is both respectful and compliant.
