Love my Mondays.πŸ’œ
I keep the morning free for myself and my personal appointments.
Then, the afternoon is spent with my local counselling clients.

Feelings work is something that features a lot in my practice with young people.

Often, we have layers of feelings that are hidden by our defence mechanisms, which are behaviours we use to keep us safe. Sometimes, this is because other people have let us down and hurt us.

The next time you see a young person acting angry like a shark, maybe try to be curious to really understand what lies beneath the behaviour.

We will be joined by the amazing .kalmkoach.

Lisa is a trusted local counsellor and holistic therapist who has co-delivered groups with me for the past year.

She has loads of top tips and great strategies to share with us for looking after ourselves.

We have both been playing around with AI this week to create our own therapist caricatures. Here's what it's created for us. ( loving my wrinkle free AI face πŸ˜…).

We still have a couple of places left on Wednesdays small group session.

February is here, and it brings a bit of hope that lighter warmer days are coming.🌞🌻

Do you know about glimmers?✨️✨️
They are the little things that bring us joy and help to balance out the negatives. It's part of mindfulness.

Glimmers help to ground us in the present moment.

Here are 2 of mine from the last week with an example of each negative that my brain was initially drawn to.

1. I met a young person in a remote rural area for the wellbeing project + didn't realise the farm cafe needed to be booked ahead. It was packed! GLIMMER I discreetly told the manager why I was there. She found us a quiet space in a little outhouse on the farm with a heater, sparkly lights, and peaceful energy. She helped me choose a discreet table in the cafe for next time + has reserved it for us.πŸ’œ

2. My garden looks like a building site as it's been under reconstruction since last summer. It's really been getting me down. This morning, I noticed the snowdrops peeping through reminding me that it won't be long until we have dry warmer days to be able to finish the garden. It's going to have a garden pod for me and my online work, which I'm really excited about, and I've been saving up for it for a long time. So I know it will be worth it + can visualise how it will look later this year.🏑

Why don't you have a go today? When your brain takes you to a negative. Take a breath, look around, and see if there's any possible glimmers in the situation that you haven't noticed.πŸ’œβœ¨οΈπŸ’œ

I've had a great week running the St. Helens trailblazor wellbeing project for care experienced young people aged 18 to 21.

We've had some laughs, tears, and challenges. But we are all learning together, which is just an amazing experience to be a part of.

I love working with , back in my own local authority, as well as using the skills of local associates who provide me with a helping hand in the workshops.

Next week, it's all 1 to 1s, and the week after, we will have our next small group workshop with .kalmkoach, which I'm really looking forward to.

A goal achieved this week.πŸ†πŸ‘ πŸ’œ

I've passed my level 1 in Emotional Freedom Technique, aka tapping.

This is my first step towards being able to offer it to others to help people manage anxiety, fears, and phobias. As well as having more strategies for looking after my own wellbeing.

I can now safely share this technique with friends + family. Hopefully, by the end of the summer, I will have completed the next level to be able to offer it out to the public as part of My Therapy Coach Counselling and Wellbeing Services.

I highly recommend for anyone interested in training in EFT.
