Just a quick one! I'm on holidays until 10th December! With all the amazing things that people are achieving, I forgot to mention this!! I've been working until 11pm most nights - so I am on strict instructions - no laptop!! (I'm having palpitations without my laptop and diary!)

I have had the best week this week!

Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you for my beautiful tiny tree and my vouchers - to the parents who brought me these gorgeous gifts - I am so blown away and I am truly blessed. Thank you!

The first picture is a wonderful cake which a young person made. They wrote out in the instructions so that I can make it myself-but in all honesty, I know it wouldn't taste as good as theirs! They done this completely by sight alone - no measuring! I am so impressed!

This young person blows me away every week. When I met them, it was difficult to engage in anything. We are now getting to a point where they can plan what they want to do with some, but minimal, guidance. This is massive progress and I am so proud of their achievements! They have built a good relationship with me and other key adults - which is also huge for them!

My lovely Lavender Buddy and the affirmation cards were used on Monday. This is to support a young person who is going through a change at home. I had a lovely day with my Lavender friend travelling around with me! (And yes - I made sure that the bear could see everything as we drove around!)

The Lavender buddy is lovely and provides input to all senses. The one I have comes with affirmation cards and a backpack for my purple coloured friend!

Did you know that I also have my own page?

The page is there so that others can gain the support that they need from others, provide businesses who support those with SEN needs to have a platform to share and allow those who are completing research to find participants for their research.

The page is open to anyone to join. There's often many questions asked and it is lovely to see people supporting eachother.

Occupational Therapy is seriously fun!

This week, one of my amazing young people decided that they wanted to do a breakfast challenge! So I used this as an opportunity to develop his independence skills whilst also starting the process of overcoming a bit of a fear of feeling different. He has auditory hyperactivity, meaning that he needs to wear in ear buds but feels self concious so I wore my hearing aid and we decided to go in to the big wide world together with our respective hearing apparatus! He shopped for everything he needed, he checked for his allergies on packaging and was confident throughout!

Look at these amazing pancakes that he made! He managed his 5 pancake stack, and I only managed 2!

A massive well done to this young man. Next step is going on a bus and going to town!

A moment to remember!

I have worked with this young man for a while now. He is tactile hyper reactive and in each session, we have been bringing in tactile input. In the summer, there was a massive breakthrough when he done a little bit of finger painting.

Today - this happened! Coated in paint, no tears or upset, and he rubbed my hands constantly with paint (clothes are now in the wash!) I have never been so proud of anyone, or so proud to be an OT. His parents have worked so hard with him inbetween sessions and we have really achieved something amazing today!

This opens a lot of learning and OT opportunities which were closed to him previously. Myself and his mum spoke excitedly about the prospect of cooking and engagement in activities he would not have been able to complete previously.

It's not often that I put anything like this on my page, but this one hit my heart strings.

This is a charity that has been set up in the name of Bebe, who was one of the young girls who was killed in Southport. Their family found that there was not a lot being offered for children to support with their mental health and wellbeing as well as grief. This charity has been set up to support children and their families to access services which are aimed at young people so they can work through their grief in a way that works for them.

Please can you give anything that you can? They are a CIC, meaning that they are not for profit and their focus is doing something good following a truly sad situation.

Heya everyone! It's been a while since I have posted, but here's the new hair colour! Please use this picture when showing young people what I look like!

I wanted to pop some things up which I am grateful for this week. I met some amazing young people who genuinely keep me on my toes, but also make me smile beyond belief, a young person singing "Sean the scouse" instead of Sean the sheep will live with me forever, a fellow OT brought me a coffee (thank you), a young person gave me a cool bendy dog which they made, I have laughed so very much all week and spent all week talking about Halloween and Christmas (my two favourite topics) and lastly I drove through the Peak district- which is a gorgeous drive - to see a lovely young man.

I work stupid hours (until midnight last night) but I have never been happier and it's all because of you! Thank you for sharing your lives with me and for allowing me to be part of them! For that - I am always grateful!

A massive thank you to Target Fitness, St Helens, for allowing me to use the gym space to complete an assessment today. I was unable to complete the assessment in their home as the young person doesn't like new people within their safe space, and in stepped Dan from Target Fitness!

One of the nicest people I have ever met and let me use the space for free as it was to support a young person with needs in our area.

Dan doesn't know about this post - but I would highly recommend him if you're looking for a kind and caring person who individualises training. I hope to work with him again soon!
