Your skin is made up of several layers, but when people talk about the skin barrier, they usually mean the epidermis, or moisture barrier, which is the outermost layer of our skin.

How do I protect it?

One word! - SPF!!!!!

Make sure to always wear SPF and be gentle on your skin! Your skin barrier is fairly self-sufficient and does an excellent job of regeneration as needed. However, because your skin barrier is your immune system’s first line of defense, you should make sure to treat it with care!! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

The sun may not exactly be shining, but sunscreen 𝙎𝙃𝙊𝙐𝙇𝘿 𝙎𝙏𝙄𝙇𝙇 𝘽𝙀 a part of your daily skincare routine.

While many think they can stop layering on the SPF once the skies turn grey, this is a crucial mistake. Clouds may weaken the sun’s UVB rays, but UVA rays are strong all year long.

These UVA rays can pe*****te the skin much deeper than UVB, and are recognised as contributing factors for causing dark spots, wrinkles and even some skin cancers. Which means that SPF decreases the risk of early skin ageing.

So don't forget to wear SPF daily, no matter the time of year, and book in for regular 𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐄𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐃 𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐄𝐄𝐃 microneedling sessions to keep your skin looking and feeling its best.
