Andy Reid MBE - Standing Tall Foundation

Andy Reid MBE - Standing Tall Foundation In October 2009, Corporal Andy Reid MBE stepped on a Taliban improvised explosive device while on patrol in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

The Standing Tall Foundation promote the mental and physical health of all community groups through the provision of counselling, addiction support, Housing and Benefits advice and physical activity initiatives. Injured so badly that it was thought he would not survive, he defied the odds to the extent that, within a month, he was able to meet up with members of his patrol again. Since then as a triple amputee, he has gone on to carry out many arduous challenges to raise money and give back to the associations that helped him and his family through difficult times. To assist him in his endeavours, Andy set up the Standing Tall Foundation in March of 2020, perhaps the worst time in modern history to do so. With little in the way of resources and funding he set about assisting people on an individual basis. Along the way he tackled homelessness, attempted suicide, job loss, depression and various mental health scenarios, much of it at his own expense and time. Each fresh case presented a whole new set of circumstances to deal with and resolve or put measures in place to help. The Standing Tall Foundation has now evolved, and promotes the mental and physical health of all community groups through the provision of counselling, addiction support and physical activity initiatives. We further extend this support into the community to help those in financial hardship, including the homeless, via the provision of grants, items and services using the resources secured by the Foundation or those made available to us.

Enormous thanks to the team at TVS Supply Chain Solutions Limited for the wonderful gifts they wrapped and donated to us for our Xmas Toy Appeal yesterday.

We will be delivering all the gifts tomorrow at our annual wrap and pack day to 50 schools across the borough of St Helens. The gifts will given to the most vulnerable children and their families who may not otherwise receive any presents this Xmas.

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and taking the time out of your day to wrap them all up! It will make such a huge difference to many โค๏ธ๐ŸŽ„

A huge thank you to St Helens Rugby Club for hosting our Kinaxia 2025 Conference - the perfect venue for a day focused on collaboration, teamwork, and shaping the future of our business.

Weโ€™re incredibly grateful to our guest speaker, Andy Reid, whose inspiring and motivational talk left a lasting impact on everyone in the room. We look forward to working closely with Andy and the Standing Tall Foundation in 2026.

Thank you to all who attended and contributed. It was a fantastic day filled with valuable discussions, shared goals, and positive steps forward as we continue to build a stronger, more connected Kinaxia.

Wow, what an amazing week itโ€™s been so far here at the STF hub! A new mascot and now a new Bastionmobile to drive around in! ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿถ

We are delighted to have partnered with Chorley Group and Chorley Nissan Wigan who have very kindly provided us with an amazing car to use for Foundation purposes.

This will help us enormously with visiting vulnerable clients, transporting veterans and travelling to STF events.

Thanks so much we are truly grateful ๐Ÿ™

Keep your eyes peeled and give us a beep if you see us on the road!

We need you! ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŽ„

We are asking people to kindly donate new toys and gifts to support the most vulnerable families in St Helens.

Last year we successfully delivered over 2000 gifts to 844 children and their families, including Young Carers.

This year with your help, we are looking to do the same via 50 schools in the Borough who have identified the greatest need, as well as homeless families, to make sure the most vulnerable children receive gifts this Xmas.

We are accepting any gifts aged from 4 to 18 years. There are several drop off points in the town as follows:

Standing Tall Foundation
REDS Cafe & Takeaway
NatWest St Helens
Smyths Toy Store
Dunelm St Helens | Community Support (fill out a tag for the tree as part of their delivering joy campaign)

The deadline for dropping off gifts is the 8th December.

Help us to help others this Xmas. Your support is always appreciated ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ๐ŸŽ„
