Andy Reid MBE - Standing Tall Foundation

Andy Reid MBE - Standing Tall Foundation In October 2009, Corporal Andy Reid MBE stepped on a Taliban improvised explosive device while on patrol in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

The Standing Tall Foundation promote the mental and physical health of all community groups through the provision of counselling, addiction support, Housing and Benefits advice and physical activity initiatives. Injured so badly that it was thought he would not survive, he defied the odds to the extent that, within a month, he was able to meet up with members of his patrol again. Since then as a triple amputee, he has gone on to carry out many arduous challenges to raise money and give back to the associations that helped him and his family through difficult times. To assist him in his endeavours, Andy set up the Standing Tall Foundation in March of 2020, perhaps the worst time in modern history to do so. With little in the way of resources and funding he set about assisting people on an individual basis. Along the way he tackled homelessness, attempted suicide, job loss, depression and various mental health scenarios, much of it at his own expense and time. Each fresh case presented a whole new set of circumstances to deal with and resolve or put measures in place to help. The Standing Tall Foundation has now evolved, and promotes the mental and physical health of all community groups through the provision of counselling, addiction support and physical activity initiatives. We further extend this support into the community to help those in financial hardship, including the homeless, via the provision of grants, items and services using the resources secured by the Foundation or those made available to us.

📣Only ONE MONTH to go until the London Marathon! 🏃‍♂️

We couldn’t be prouder of our co-founder William Andrew Reid who will be taking on this incredible challenge. Out of 60,000 participants, Andy is one of just 3,000 people running or walking with a disability or injury — a powerful reminder that disability does NOT mean inability.

His journey is proof that with the right mindset, hard work, and determination, anything is possible.

This isn’t just about crossing the finish line, it’s about making a real difference.

Andy is raising funds for us and the Army Benevolent Fund to support veterans across the country, helping them with mental health, addiction, wellbeing, and welfare challenges.

If you can, please donate and support this epic cause. Every contribution helps change lives. ❤️🙏

Our Co-Founder William Andrew Reid had the pleasure of speaking in the school assembly this morning at Ashurst Primary School. Andy spoke about overcoming adversity, the importance of being kind and that anything is achievable if you set your mind to it!

Their Year 2 Class have been studying Andy as part of their local history project about local heroes and the positive impact on the community.

In Art, they also drew portraits of Andy, based on the work of Arnold Machin and iconic profile of Queen Elizabeth II on British Postage stamps. As you can see, some of them are very life like! ❤️

Bastion is getting around and being quite mischievous, is he really trying to push the Leaning Tower of Pisa over?

He'll do anything to promote his London Marathon challenge, but he'll be one sad dog if nobody supports him!

Please consider doing so if your can. All monies raised in support of the Standing Tall Foundation and the valuable work it does in the community.

You can donate to Bastion here:
