Today is 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗗𝗮𝘆 and this year the theme is Sleep Well, Live Better. Many people living with cancer experience anxiety and stress, which can make getting a good night’s sleep more difficult. But there are many other reasons why your sleep patterns might be disrupted:
• worry, anxiety, depression or other emotions
• being uncomfortable, having pain or feeling unwell
• your bedroom feeling too hot or cold
• noise or light
• sleeping during the day or not being active during the day
• having different sleep routines from other people at home
• smoking, or drinking alcohol or caffeine
• taking medicines that affect sleep, such as steroids
Visit the Macmillan Cancer Support website for some really useful information about sleep (or lack of it) and advice on how you can help improve your sleep patterns - www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/impacts-of-cancer/trouble-sleeping
