This week, our Network was pleased to welcome not one but TWO external visitors to our weekly meeting.

The first was the lovely Clare from Wiltshire Creative who delivered a fantastic drama workshop with our Badgers to help them towards their Performance Badger badge! 🎭

The second was the fabulous Char (and her lovely mum!) from who delivered a really interesting and informative talk, raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of regularly checking your chest 🩷

A huge thank you to both for giving up your time!

Our volunteers were out today supporting Salisbury City Council with their Christmas Begins event. It was a fabulous (if a bit chilly), festive celebration, the first of many events and engagements for us over the next few weeks in the run up to Christmas.

We are very proud of our Cadets and Badgers (the youngest of whom are just 6 years old!), supported by a team of youth leaders, who took part in this year’s Remembrance Parade in Salisbury.

Also a massive thank you to our adult volunteers who provided medical support for the event, helping those who fell ill on parade.

Members of St John Ambulance will join other uniformed and civilian services taking part in Remembrance parades across the country tomorrow, including volunteers and youth members from Salisbury & South Wiltshire.

St John also provides medical cover for many of these events (including Salisbury!) to look after those who fall ill or injure themselves. Each year we see a myriad of fainters, so here are our top tips for staying upright during the parade…

This evening, we were really pleased to welcome Robert and Caroline from SERV Wessex - The Blood Runners to give our volunteers a talk about the vital work they do providing transport for blood products and other medical services across the region.

Thank you so much for giving up your Monday evening, it was super interesting to hear about all the amazing work your volunteers do!

Last Monday we held our annual Youth Presentation Evening for our Badgers and Cadets. The event showcased the hard work and dedication shown by all of our young people, and we are so proud of all they achieved. This included two special awards for dedication, named after retired volunteers - the Glynn Reeve Award for Cadets and the new Jenny Williams Award for Badgers who both tirelessly supported the running of youth programmes in our area.

Thank you to all of the adult volunteers and dignitaries who came to show their support, and of course all of the parents who show their commitment by supporting their young people to attend each week!

Also a very special thank you to our VIB (very important badger) Bertie for joining us for some fab photo opportunities with the Badgers as seen below 🐾

From Sunday to Wednesday, a team of volunteers from Salisbury and further afield are supporting the Salisbury Charter Fair in the Market Square. We are proud to have supported this event on behalf of Salisbury City Council for many years and are pleased to be back. 🎠🎑πŸŽͺ

This year is particularly soggy so please be careful whilst walking around the site as it is very slippery! 🌧️ Stay safe, but be confident in the knowledge our teams are here if you need us.

Last weekend, we were pleased to be back supporting the Clarendon Marathon which sees runners and walkers take the gruelling 26.2 mile, off-road route from Salisbury to Wi******er.

With some help from Dorset and other Wiltshire volunteers, 13 St John personnel attended and supported the event including a cadet, event manager, comms personnel and emergency ambulance crew. To aid us in safely and effectively covering such a vast distance, our crews were transported in a total of 4 St John vehicles across the course including a Community Support unit, a Treatment Centre, an Ambulance and a 4x4 Response Vehicle.

It was a brilliant event as always, we are pleased to have provided medical cover for this event on behalf of Wi******er Rotary Club for 15 years and it is always a highlight in our events calendar. Thank you for having us! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
