Slight change of plan today although the spotty dog seems to be happy! This brings me onto a good subject for this time of the year and fitting…

❄️Weather Conditions and Appointments ❄️
We have been very lucky up to Christmas and the New Year that we’ve not had anything too cold. However, over the last few days the temperature has dropped significantly.

Part of fitting correctly and appropriately is seeing your horse ridden (after all it is when they are moving with you on top that the saddle needs to fit best!) if it looks as though this may not be possible due to ground conditions and arena surfaces, do get in touch to discuss best options, even if this does mean postponing.

This is not just for cases where it is a bit cold, I’m happy to be wrapped up and I am now starting to increasingly look like the Michelin man but this is a safety factor, if the arena or ground is frozen this adds added risks into the ridden part of saddle fitting!

If you have any worries, please get in touch to have a chat!

I have had an absolutely fabulous time off, it really was the reset I needed after an absolutely manic few months.

I am all prepped and ready to get back to work tomorrow, saddles are organised and everything ready to be loaded in the morning.

Even my favourite boots have had a clean and condition. My mum bought me these boots 2 years ago when I was pregnant and could no longer fit in my DuBarrys and Le Chamaeu’s 😂 and honestly they were the most comfortable boots from day one, no breaking in needed! The amount of hours/days these boots have done and they are still looking and feeling great after a good clean and condition.

This weekend is off with a bang and two full days, and on that note January is already almost fully booked. Weekends from February will also be reducing so please be aware that these will fill up quickly.

That’s a wrap! 🎄🎅🏼❄️🎁

I did my last appointment of 2025 today… it has been my absolute pleasure to have been involved in so many of your journeys this year but I think it’s safe to say I am very much ready for a break.

This time last year, I was just getting prepared to head back to my old job after 9 months on maternity leave, I wasn’t particularly looking forward to it (not because I didn’t like my lovely colleagues, in case you are reading this!) but I didn’t want to be travelling around a third of the country after having Esme.

I’d made the start on building up the saddle fitting side of Sarum Saddlery towards the end of my maternity leave but it was still a daunting prospect to make the jump to being fully self-employed in March this year.

I need not have worried, and that is all down to you my very lovely clients! I cannot thank you all enough and I feel very privileged that you have trusted me to be part of yours and your horses care this year.

I hope you all have an absolutely fabulous Christmas and enjoy the festive period, whatever that may look like for you all and I look forward to seeing you all in 2026… I am excited to see what the year of the Horse brings us all ❤️

All prepped for another busy weekend of fitting, I do love coming out to see you all but I will be looking forward to a bit of a time off over Christmas to spend time with the family.

Here’s hoping this one sticks to enjoying riding saddles in the hallway rather than wanting to ride on something with 4 legs for a little while longer! 🥰

📢Important Update - December, January 2026 and Pricing📢

This is an advance notice to all current and new clients, from January 2026 my prices will be increasing.

As of 1st January 2026, I will be VAT registered. I have tried to look at all options in how best to progress with this but I am unfortunately not in a position to absorb the costs.

Current clients, please do get in touch for more details or you will be updated on pricing when you get in touch to book your next appointments.

Please also be aware my December diary is filling very fast with very few spaces left for appointments and I will be taking some time off over Christmas 🎄🎅⛄.

Finally, moving in to 2026 my weekend appointments will be reducing, this wont be straight away but will happen at some point in the first few months. I will still continue to offer weekend appointments, for me that is part of this job but with reduced weekends this means the timeframe for booking appointments will increase so please do not leave it until last minute!

I do have the option to arrange clinic days, where I can hire an indoor arena and do a full long day of fittings. If this is something which would be of interest, please do let me know and I can look at suitable dates.

It has been an exhausting weekend, with lots of fitting and what feels like almost every variation of the British weather. I’m still trying to pretend I’m not cold because well… it’s only November! However, this afternoon I relented and had to add layers and use some hand warmers.

Everyone has been fab this weekend and have coped really well, finished off with an afternoon of fitting at the lovely Best Haaf Stables, Zebedee here checking out how his template has changed.

After 2 early starts and 2 late finishes, plus an impromptu hour and half awake last night thanks to Esme, I am tucked up in bed by 9.15 and giving into my cold (again, that I’ve pretended I don’t have but is definitely winning!) 🤧

All invoices, paperwork and messages will be sorted/responded to tomorrow once I’ve caught up with some sleep 😴

Plus a couple of exciting announcements to follow!

My job may be saddle fitting and spending most of my days with the horses but this weekend it’s also been full of all sorts of other animals.

Started with goats 🐐, a couple of Turkeys 🦃 helped me change a gullet bar, whilst being serenaded by lions roaring in the background… yes you read that right lions! 🦁 and it finished off with pigs, donkeys, vicuñas and a few camels 🐫

The Wiltshire countryside is filled with an interesting mix and it I love it!

It was nice to be back in the workshop last night doing some stitching something which feels like it hasn’t been on the cards for a while.

Whilst my car is currently out of action I decided to bring in my car mascot into the workshop, Redberry is my who’s been with me for years and also a tribute to my best friend who I no longer have Red.

He supervised my making of two breastplate straps and replacing the strap on this cartridge bag with the clients stable belt. It’s always a job I enjoy doing and it’s a privilege to be trusted to work with peoples sentimental items.

Today has been back to unpacking saddle deliveries in preparation for a busy weekend fitting 🐴
