Why does my back hurt when I’ve been sitting or standing for too long?
We’re not designed to be immobile creatures. We rely on movement to get postural muscles contracting and relaxing. This removes the strain created by the weight of the torso, arms and head.
Pause for a moment.
Imagine just how heavy that is…
Unsurprisingly this makes the intervertebral joints and discs work harder. It either creates a problem or aggravates an existing one.
The body gives us a pain signal to say, “Hey Do Something About It!” In the hope that we’ll move.
If the pain or ache goes, job done; if it stays, you know you need help to unlock spinal joints, which also releases any associated muscle tension.
