Abicare Gets Healthy! 💚
We’ve launched some exciting healthy initiatives here at Abicare to help our team stay active, feel great, and enjoy some fun along the way!

Last week we held our first Head Office outing for the Monthly Walking Club, led by Matt – and the sunshine came out just for us! It was a fantastic opportunity to get moving, catch up with colleagues, and enjoy some fresh air together.

We’ve also introduced a Step Challenge for all our team members. Each month we’ll be tracking our steps, with a prize for the top stepper!

Watch this space for our upcoming step stats and leaderboard updates!

Young Carer's action Day
11 March 2026
Young Carers Action Day is a chance for all of us to recognise the incredible young people who provide care and support to family members every day. It’s also gives us all a chance to help, by raising our voices and calling for better recognition, resources, and support for young carers and young adult carers.

Many young carers balance school, friendships, and their own wellbeing while caring for someone at home. They deserve to be seen, heard, and supported.

🎄Christmas can be a joyful time — but for many older adults, it can also be one of the loneliest. At Abicare, we see first-hand how powerful connection can be, especially at this time of year.
Here are a few simple but meaningful ways we can all help tackle loneliness this Christmas:
📞Reach out — A phone call or a doorstep chat can make someone’s week.
🧑‍🤝‍🧑Include — Invite a neighbour or relative to join a festive activity.
💟Check in — Small acts of kindness go a long way towards helping someone feel seen and valued.
👐Support — Our care professionals are there to provide company, comfort and reassurance when it’s needed most.

Let's come together as a community to bring warmth, companionship and kindness to those who need it.
At Abicare, we’re here to help ensure no one feels alone this festive season.

The holiday season can amplify feelings of grief for many. As we approach National Grief Week (December 2-8), it’s important to remember that you’re not alone in this journey.

Grief is a natural response to loss, and it’s okay to feel a mix of emotions during this time. Whether it’s reaching out for support, honouring a loved one’s memory, or simply allowing yourself to feel, every step is part of healing.

Last week we held our official opening of Abicare’s brand-new office in Crickhowell, located at Clarence Hall on Beaufort Street! Welsh rugby star James Hook joined forces with Crickhowell’s Deputy Mayor, Mike Goodman, to cut the ribbon and declare our new branch open.

Already proudly serving South Wales from our Pontypool branch, this expansion marks an important step in Abicare’s growth in Powys. Our Crickhowell team will be delivering a full range of tailored homecare services — from complex care to reablement — helping people live safely and independently in the comfort of their own homes.

The new branch will be open five days a week, led by AREA’s Mark Chandler, with a dedicated team already in place.

Here’s to new beginnings and continued support for our wonderful communities across Wales!
