Post stroke – are you experiencing difficulty with mobility?🧠

Orchid Rehab has over 25 years of neuro-physio experience and can support you by designing a rehabilitation program that helps you work on the weaknesses that are preventing your movement and address any spasticity issues.

We use targeted exercises to help you regain strength, coordination, and motor control. Techniques like task-specific training, supported walking practice, and resistance exercises encourage neuroplasticity - helping the brain re-learn how to move effectively.🎯

The rehab program will be tailored to your specific needs and aim to help you strengthen your muscles, so your mobility becomes easier.💪

The overall goals are to help you recover as much independent function as possible, to reduce pain, and improve your quality of life.😊

🌟Client Success Story🌟

After spinal surgery and complications, one of our clients was left struggling with severe leg pain, poor balance and dependence on walking sticks.🚶‍♂️

Six months ago, they started working with Orchid Rehab.

With our specialist neuro-physiotherapy experience, we were able to provide expert guidance and develop a tailored exercise strategy which helped them dramatically improve their walking distance, speed and balance.

✨ The outcome? No more sticks, reduced medication, and a quality of life they never thought possible.

👉 Their words: “I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Helen’s specialist neuro-physiotherapy services.”

We love helping our clients and hearing their positive rehabilitation stories - where expertise and persistence transform lives. 💙

As a physiotherapist, I am often asked by my clients how they should keep physically active outside of the rehab sessions we spend together, whilst remaining safe and not pushing their bodies too much. 🤔

Obviously, the exact exercises I recommend will reflect what my client is able to do. 🏋️‍♀️

But generically, I would recommend these 4 ways to keep active for longer:

✅Aim to build some low-impact exercise into your daily routine, without putting too much strain on your joints - even walking regularly helps to build up muscle strength and provides cardiovascular benefits.❤️💪

✅Stay flexible by including some stretching exercises into your week, as these will help prevent injury and reduce muscle stiffness. 🧘‍♀️🤸‍♂️

✅Focus on exercises that mimic everyday activities to improve your ability to do the things you need to do. This will often improve balance and coordination. ⚖️🏃‍♀️

✅Rest is crucial for recovery and preventing injuries. Ensure you get adequate sleep and rest after exercise to allow your body to repair and strengthen. 🛌💤

Do you need help with developing an exercise program to suit your needs?

Then please get in touch. 📞😊

I love the work that I do. 💖

I am always happiest when I am able to help someone move forward with their life. Recently, I helped someone regain their ability after injury, to participate in hobbies and sport activities they enjoyed. 🏅

After years of pain and a reluctance to walk far because of the excruciating pain this caused, it was fantastic to see a client now walking regularly and gradually increasing their distance with less pain and an enthusiasm to improve more and to consider returning to a walk/run program. 🏃‍♂️

Are you wanting to return to sport, but unable to do so because of complex pain issues? 🤕

Then why not get in touch with me at Orchid Rehab, to see how a personalised physio rehab program can help you get back to what you enjoy. 🏋️‍♂️

How does food influence our wellbeing?🍏

It is a well known fact that eating more healthily can enhance our fitness and in turn our wellbeing and overall happiness.😊

We encourage our clients, as part of their rehab journey, to eat more of the healthy food groups such as:

🍓Fruit and vegetables to help strengthen our immune system

🌱Whole grain rice and pasta to provide essential nutrients, fibre and sustained energy

🍶 Lean protein sources for muscle repair and overall tissue health

🌾Healthy fats for brain health and reducing inflammation

🥛Drinking more water to stay hydrated

🫒Reducing the consumption of processed foods and sugars

There are many strategies for mindful eating and eating balanced meals throughout the day, including eating slowly and fully chewing your food.

We encourage people to review their nutritional needs, as they may differ based on age, gender, activity level, and any existing health conditions.

Feeling like you’re stuck in a rut? 🌀

Sometimes, change can be just what the doctor ordered! 🔄

As a physio, I've seen first hand how embracing change can invigorate both our body and our mind. 🫶

Change challenges us to adapt and grow. Just like our muscles need exercises to get stronger, our minds thrive on new experiences.

Whether it's trying a new workout routine, exploring a different hobby, or even rearranging our home, change keeps our brains sharp and engaged. Embracing change can lead to new discoveries about ourselves and our capabilities. It's like giving our minds a refreshing breath of fresh air! 🌿

We all know the feeling of being stuck, can drain our energy. By introducing change into our lives, whether big or small, we shake things up and inject excitement into our daily routine.

Just as our bodies adapt to new challenges during physical training, our minds become more resilient when dealing with change. By embracing change, we cultivate the ability to navigate uncertain situations and bounce back from setbacks. We become more flexible in our thinking and more open to embracing the unknown. Instead of fearing change, we learn to embrace it as an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. 💪

Basically, change can be as good as a rest! 🏖️

Why not challenge yourself to break free from the norm and try something new?🌟
