πŸ“’ Important reminder/update for patients at Spring Orchard Surgery (Fovant) and Old Orchard Surgery (Wilton)

πŸ’Š Prescriptions for Spring Orchard (Fovant) are now prepared off-site and then delivered to the surgery for collection. If you are housebound and usually receive deliveries, this will continue, but please allow a little extra time.

πŸ₯ Prescriptions for Old Orchard Surgery (Wilton) will still be prepared on-site, but may take slightly longer than before.

⏳ How does this affect you?
Please allow 3 full working days for your non-urgent prescription to be ready for collection. This is longer than before, so remember to order in plenty of time!

βœ… Why the change?
We’re moving to a more centralised system to make our service more consistent, efficient and resilient for everyone. The way the NHS operates and is funded is changing. We have changed our process to enable us to continue our services.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we adapt to this new way of working. Our teams continue to be working to prepare prescriptions as efficiently as possible, and so we are ever so grateful for their dedication and support. πŸ₯°

You are warmly invited to the next public meeting of the S. Wilts Area Board, taking place at Whiteparish Memorial Centre on the 20th November (see attached flyer).

They have some important items to discuss, and have asked Wiltshire Council’s Head of Local Highways to present on the maintenance and management of public rights of way. This will be of particular interest to parish councils, walking and footpath groups and volunteers. The Landford Area Footpaths Volunteers Group will update us on the local work they lead on too.

Local young people, supported by the SMASH Youth Charity, will have time at the meeting to update us regarding the parish collaboration youth project in Alderbury, Laverstock, Idmiston, Firsdown and Grimsteads.

For more info, please see flyer attached.

πŸ“’ Important Update: Salisbury Hospital Industrial Action – 14th to 19th November

Salisbury District Hospital will be affected by resident doctor industrial action from 7am on Thursday 14th November to 6:59am on Tuesday 19th November.

πŸ₯ What this means for patients:

- The hospital will be running a reduced service, similar to a Bank Holiday level, during this time.
- Outpatient appointments will go ahead as planned, unless you are contacted directly by the hospital to reschedule.
- Emergency and urgent care services will remain open, but may be busier than usual.

πŸ’‘ What you can do:

- Please only attend A&E if it is a genuine emergency.
- For minor illnesses or injuries, consider using NHS 111, your local pharmacy, or contacting us at the surgery for advice.
- If you or a loved one are due to be discharged from hospital, please support this process where possible to help free up beds.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this time. We’ll continue working closely with the hospital to ensure you receive the care you need.

Introducing The Achieve Programme – Supporting Wiltshire’s NEET Young People

The Achieve Programme is a 16-week initiative delivered by Wiltshire Council’s Family and Community Learning team, designed to empower young people aged 16–25 who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) or at risk of becoming NEET.

Through small-group learning and tailored support, the programme helps participants build confidence, develop essential life and employability skills, and work towards positive next steps in education, training or employment. Young people aged 16-25 will be able to gain two accredited certificates in Developing Resilience and Personal Development & Employability Skills, with practical units including digital skills, budgeting, CV writing, and interview preparation.

Tutors provide both academic and pastoral support, creating a safe and encouraging environment for learners to grow and succeed. Referrals are being welcomed now for the next two cohorts which start in mid-November in Salisbury on Tuesdays and Trowbridge on Thursdays.

Please contact achieveprogram@wiltshire.gov.uk for more information or to make a referral. Course flyers and information are attached.

πŸŽƒπŸ¦· Don't Let Tooth Decay Be the Scariest Part of Halloween! πŸ‘»

It's tempting to let little ones enjoy the treats this time of year, but good dental habits are the real magic that protects their smiles! ✨

As part of the NHS Better Health Start for Life campaign, here are a few fun, positive tips to keep those fangs sparkling, long after the pumpkin is put away:

βœ… Brush Away the Ghouls! πŸ§› Encourage your child to brush for two minutes, twice a day, especially right before bed! This removes the 'sugar monsters' that cause decay.
βœ… Say Goodbye to the Bottle! For children over one year old, the best way to help avoid tooth decay is to 'Say Goodbye to the Bottle' for milk or juice, especially before nap or bedtime. Use a simple, open or lidded cup instead.
βœ… Witch's Brews: Water and plain milk are the best drinks for young teeth! Save those sugary juices and drinks for meal times to give teeth a break.
βœ… Fang-tastic Check-ups: Regular check-ups are key! If your child hasn't been to the dentist recently, call to book a check-up.

Let's make sure those smiles are treat-worthy all year round! Happy brushing, everyone! πŸͺ₯
