Here’s an update of what’s been happening with the Men’s Circle in October ⭕️

We firstly had our coffee morning a couple of Saturdays ago, and for anyone who is new to this page, or more importantly, this idea, our coffee morning is a casual get-together where we simply have coffee, chat, and the time flies by! ☕️

Then, we had our monthly meet-up for October just a couple of nights ago… It was a great pleasure to be able to welcome 3 new faces on Thursday, as well as seeing some of the regular lads as well 🙏🏻
Our theme for the month was ‘The stuff we don’t say’, which I came up with because I wanted to provide a platform for all the men attending to be able to speak their minds, listen to their fellow men, and build those connections 🤝🏻

In truth, it was an incredibly powerful session, and some of the shares were heavy at times, to say the least… But that’s the point: that’s the space we have, that’s what we can do here, it’s a way of unburdening yourself — you don’t have to carry this alone anymore… not now ⭕️❤️

What else? It’s now November, which also means Movember 🥸

Last year we raised £327 for the Movember UK foundation, and so this year our goal is to reach £350!!
If you’d like to support us, you can donate below (every penny helps), you can grow a mo, or you can simply get talking about things like mental health, prostate cancer awareness, and so much more!

As ever, I remain grateful and privileged, so thank you all!

Here are the photos from our monthly meet-up for September!

Our theme for this month was family, and, yet again, it was a powerful and emotive evening for me, and I dare say for many others as well. We were delighted to be able to welcome 5 new faces to the group last week, and the courage that that takes in itself to walk through the door deserves a shoutout — well done to those men! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

It’s such a simple system: sit down, listen, share… yet it’s so effective. In the modern day, men really are lacking a safe space to be able to talk about men’s stuff, and yet… here, I see the budding shoots of so many relationships building. Older and younger men listening to each other, men from different backgrounds, most of whom would probably never look twice at one another in the street! 👀

Some men spoke of their fractured relationships with their parent(s), some spoke of a lack of guidance, communication, and understanding from their parents, siblings, and even friends at that age, too. The beauty is that, whatever you bring to the circle, it’s enough 🙏🏻⭕️

One word that has come up a few times since last week is ‘privileged’, and I must say, hand on heart, that I truly feel privileged to be able to witness the bravery, honesty, and integrity of so many men on a monthly basis (not forgetting their/our vulnerability) 🙌🏻

If you’d like to come along to see for yourself, why not get in touch — maybe we’ll see you at our monthly meet-up in October (date TBC shortly) 📅

Another great Circle ⭕️ last week, and for the first time in a while, one in which there wasn’t a theme. Instead, we improvised, we talked about some of the struggles that we’ve been facing, and as always, all men (and of course women, too) can resonate with these human emotions and challenges.

It’s completely human to feel helpless at times; it’s completely human to feel angry at times; it’s completely human to feel sad and low at times. The trick is, rather than neglecting these feelings and pushing them aside, what’s important is to get it off your chest!

Allow me to be clear: perhaps we don’t deal in miracles like a church would, but there is an open space here, and in it there’s active listening, there’s considered speaking, there’s open-mindedness, there’s empathy, there’s sympathy, and so much more.

We, as the men that regularly meet and chat, have an open-door policy: while there may be some that come and go, there may be those too who almost get there, but don’t quite manage it due to anxiety or whatever else, that’s ok. It’s all ok. The door stays open… Why not come and have a look for yourselves?

All the love,
DC

🚨 Update 🚨

The next monthly meet-up for the Men’s Circle will take place on Thursday 28 August, 7-9pm — just under 2 weeks away!

For anyone new to the concept, what is it that we do? What are we about?

We hold space for men of any age from 18 and older. Younger men, middle-aged men, and older men have all attended, all are welcome.

We sit, we all listen, some share what’s on their minds, a lot of the men give advice to others. It’s all done in a respectful manner. We sit down as perhaps male elders in tribes once would have. The younger listen to the older ones, but the older ones equally hear the younger ones. In truth, it’s not about age, it’s about being present. It’s about mutual understanding and respect.

It’s about having the courage to be vulnerable, and to say what's on your mind, what’s in your heart ♥️

It’s about being and feeling seen and heard by your fellow men. We all have way more in common than we’d like to think.

Never mind the distractions, the devices, the notifications, the memes, the group messages, the videos and reels — this is the here and now.

If this resonates with any man or men reading this, we would love to meet you! All you need to do is reach out and get in touch! 📞

£10 energy exchange fee per man, cash or card is accepted 🌀🫱🏻‍🫲🏿

Brotherhood is the medicine! 🌱

Love to all,
✊🏻💛

Here are the photos from July’s Men’s Circle monthly meet-up, which took place last week ⭕️

For the first time in quite a few months, we had a relatively small group of men… If anything, this was a nice way to mix things up as it certainly gave each of us the opportunity to speak a little more, listen as much as possible, and speak back to whatever we heard, all from a place of mutual respect and understanding 😌

The theme for the meet-up was ‘hope’, and there was certainly a lot to be hopeful about. Some men had initially been a little hesitant in sharing some things that were potentially ‘too heavy’, but this in fact has an interesting twist; instead, this seemed to galvanise the group as a whole, and I think the biggest thing that I personally perceived was how each man felt better after having shared, and after having been given the space to share whatever he needed to get off of his chest 😮‍💨

I can only command and respect the honesty and vulnerability on show at the monthly meet-up — kudos to you all, my friends, my brothers 🫵🏻😎

Stay tuned for more updates soon about upcoming dates for this month (August ‘25). The brotherhood, as ever, truly is the medicine! ⭕️🌿
