🥕🍎 Exciting News – Our New Nutritious Menus! 🍎🥕

We’re delighted to launch our brand-new menus, carefully designed to give children a healthy balance of meals and snacks throughout the week. Each dish has been thought about with the children in mind – making sure food is nutritious, varied, and tasty, while encouraging good habits for life. 🌱✨

Here’s what’s new:
✅ Healthy twists on favourites – meals children love, made with fresh, wholesome ingredients
✅ Fresh fruit & seasonal veg offered every day
✅ Balanced, child-friendly portions to support growth and energy
✅ Menus designed with children – taking into account their interests, ideas, and feedback

We know that mealtimes are more than just eating – they’re a chance to explore new flavours, share experiences with friends, and build confidence around food. That’s why we’ve worked hard to make our menus both healthy and enjoyable for the children.

Thank you for supporting us in giving the children the best start with positive food choices – we can’t wait to see them tucking in! 💛

This week, we have introduced a number of core books into each of the rooms at nursery to try and encourage children to understand and recognise familiar stories. In the discoverers room we have introduced dear zoo and the Gruffalo.

This week our main focus has been the Gruffalo. We set out a woodland area using cocoa powder, grass and wooden logs along with pictures of the animals from the Gruffalo. The children loved exploring the different animals 🐍🐁🦊🦉and loved listening to Natalie's different voices throughout the story. We also had a great time taste testing the cocoa powder and making animal noises such as "ssssss, ooooo, squeak squeak".

The children in Inventors have been super busy this month!

We have explored and visited many parks and garden centers around our local area either by walking or taking a ride on the mini bus 🚌.

We have been learning more about the children's interests and have been looking at ways to extend their knowledge and understanding through carrying out different activities and doing some fun science experiments 🔬🧪🔭.

We love to explore whatever the weather ⛅🌦️, the children (and staff) loved finding puddles to splash in as well as finding different ways to make marks in the environment using sticks.

We have also had weekly visits with drama tots which the children loved to get involved in. During this week's drama tots, we visited the zoo! We saw lots of different animals including monkeys🐒, lions🦁, giraffes 🦒and tigers🐅. We then copied lots of different noises and learnt the different ways in which animals move.

Adventurers

During our last few weeks, the Adventurers have had a great time exploring the outdoors, collecting natural resources such as leaves and sticks, participating in lots of messy/sensory play and have engaged in different problem solving activities.

Ice cereal tuff tray:
* The children were given different tools such as rolling pins, spoons, and pans 🍳 and had to figure out how to get the cereal (hoops) out of the ice. The children used their fine and gross motor skills to chip away and melt the ice which enabled them to retrieve the hoops.

Outdoors/resources:
* The children have loved going on our outdoor adventures, picking up lots of sticks, leaves🍃🍂 , and dandelions for our play. We then used this to stick some pictures together as well as making flower potions flower💐 with water, pots and pans.

Explorers 🌻

Over the last few weeks, the Explorers have been really busy building up their physical development through many different activities. We have been:
* Mark making in sand with cars 🚗
* Transferring sand using jugs, pots and pans 🍳
* Climbing the soft play in the garden room 🌳
* Balancing on the balance beam
* Pulling ourselves up to standing and lots of independent walking! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️.

All these activities helped the children to build up their fine and gross motor skills throughout the last few weeks😊.

This month the Inventors have been looking at the life cycle of ducks 🦆 , each week we watched as ducklings grew into ducks, the children loved watching them grow. On our journey’s we also saw other animals such as horses, sheep and lot’s of different bugs.

We have also been looking at colours 🌈that are around us in nature seeing if we could find all the colours on the colour wheel, the children have also enjoyed getting messy with paint. They enjoyed feeling it squishing in between their toes and mixing all the colours together.

The children have loved exploring the outdoors, playing in the long grass on the fields, picking blackberries and looking at rabbit holes and trees. They have also been busy baking and using Maths when measuring the ingredients.

We have been busy exploring the outdoors, climbing, going on bear hunts through the woods 🌳🌿 and helped to keep the Earth🌍 clean by litter picking.

The children have loved our new green house ☀, planting seeds and going to see the plants each day to watch them as they grow. We have been chatting about what we are planting and the children have mirrored what the Adults did to make sure they were all planted nicely. The children also helped maintain the plants by going back each day to water them! 🌱

We have also enjoyed making a home for the creepy crawlies in the grass. The children loved searching around for flowers🌸🌺🌷 , sticks and leaves🍃 to make it.

This week, one of the discoverers interests has been books 📚.Today we looked at a colour book and set out a colourful oat tuff tray where we matched different coloured items to the coloured oats 🟡🟢🟣. We then took this book outside to see what colours we could find around the village. We found brown sticks 🟤, green leaves 🍃 , red ladybirds 🐞 ,and blue cars🚙.

Whilst we were out we practiced our physical development by climbing trees, running around and drawing in the soil with sticks. We have also been working on communication and language as some of the children copied the words “stick, red, yellow, blue, brown”.

Inventors had their Mother’s Day stay and play, the children loved showing their parents and grandparents around the room. We had play dough which both parents and children enjoyed. We made flowers and patterns in the play dough using the petals and leaves that were on the table 🌸. We also enjoyed getting creative with paint to make flower heads using bottles and other loose parts which both adults and children enjoyed 🎨. The children also enjoyed showing their adults our imagination room and enjoyed making cups of tea and yummy food for them.
