🎵 Music Therapy at The Holt 🎵 -
Today the residents have filled the home with lots of love, laughter and music. The lovely Laura and Elena from North Yorkshire Music Therapy Services visited and spent the morning creating a therapeutic music setting, working 1-1 with residents, meeting individual
physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs. Followed by a wholesome group session in the lounge area this afternoon, when all the residents were able to play musical instruments and sing together. Music therapy is great way to create a positive mood and to support people with dementia🎵

For many residents, recounting personal or family experiences can be deeply moving and help them feel connected to the day. At The Holt we encouraged residents to share memories of wartime Britain - evacuation, rationing, community events, or loved ones who served. Residents and staff joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a silence at 11am. As well as marking Remembrance Day by making and wearing poppies, reading war time poems, joining in a music session singing along to greatest songs from the Great War while some residents had one to one time reflecting about their stories and memories of past Remembrance Sundays. ❤️”Lest we forget”❤️

Creation and Art Club at The Holt-
As we approach Remembrance Sunday, the residents have created tissue paper poppies inspired by stained glass windows. In doing this we promote fine motor skills and creativity. These are eye catching and look beautiful in the lounge area. The residents are very proud of their poppies and so are we. Lest we forget’❤️

Our lovely residents have been busy carving and decorating some amazing pumpkins.
This is a great way to promote social interaction, sensory stimulation and really focusing on those fine motor skills whilst allowing creative freedom and lots of laughter.
They are a perfect addition to our autumnal decorations around the home🎃

Today the residents enjoyed using coloured fabric and ribbon to create lavender pouches with home grown lavender from our garden here at The Holt. 🪻Filling, Feeling & Smelling. 🪻The beautiful aroma has been lingering around the home creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere this evening.

The residents enjoyed creating textured pumpkin artwork by breaking up small pieces of coloured tissue paper using fine motor skills and sticking them to a black background for contrast. They look fantastic. This is a great way to promote hand to eye coordination, creativity and sensory fun💚💛🧡
