Yvonne Shannon

Known to many as Vonny, passed away peacefully on 6th November 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

A truly wonderful Mum, cherished wife to Pat Shannon, much loved Nana and a devoted friend to so many.

Yvonne’s funeral service will take place on Thursday 20th November at 12:00pm at Woodlands Crematorium, Scarborough.
She will begin her final journey from Newlands at 11:15am, passing her former workplace, Priceholme, and travelling through Barrowcliff on her way to the crematorium. Friends and well-wishers are warmly invited to watch as she goes by on her last journey.

Please wear something bright in honour of her kindness and warmth.

Following the service all are welcome to join the family at Tamby’s bar from 1.00pm to celebrate her life.

We had a lovely afternoon at St. Bernadette’s on Remembrance Day with Alice marie and I singing for the residents (it was just Alice actually or else we wouldn’t have been asked back 😂)
They put on a fab afternoon tea afterwards too. Thanks for having us 😊

Peter Botterill
Sadly passed on Thursday 30th October with his wife and daughters by his side. His funeral will take place on Tuesday 25th November at Octon Cemetery. 11.30am. All friends and family are welcome then back to mums after for a toast to dad and some of his favourite treats 💙

Patricia (Pat) Harrison

Pat died peacefully at York Hospital on 14th October, aged 70.
Her funeral service will take place at Woodlands Crematorium at 1:00pm on Wednesday 12th November.
Pat will be much missed by all her friends and family.
There will be a Wake for Pat at the Crown Tavern after the service.

John David Womack
John passed away peacefully on October 18th, aged 87.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held at Woodlands Crematorium on Thursday 13th November at 12:00 noon, followed by refreshments at Ye Old Forge Valley Inn, West Ayton.
Optional Country / Cajun clothes & jeans.
A plate will be available for donations to Dementia Forward

People outside of the ‘funeral world’ often look at me with genuine confusion as to why I would ever want to do what I do. I get that. It’s difficult to explain exactly and without the usual cliches and my view may differ from day to day.
Today I’ll explain it through the satisfaction of helping this family and subsequently getting these kind words..

I was invited to a talk this week and we got on to the topic of non-attended cremations / direct cremations.
What are the pros & cons?

I always caveat the criticisms I have about ‘directs’ by saying that I would choose one for me to save money BUT if anyone in the family wanted / decided THEY would like me to have a funeral service of some kind then I would absolutely allow them to overide my decision.
Sometimes people really NEED some kind of funeral service to say goodbye.
Please don’t deny them that.

Greg died one year ago today on the 6th October 2024. I met Greg a few times, each of those times he scared me a bit! He stared at me with those big eyes but he was always really nice to me and he's someone I won't forget. RIP big man.

Gregory Laurence Carr. Died 6th October aged 49.

Free spirit,

Friend to many.

His service will be at St. Peters on Wednesday October 30th at 1:30pm, followed by a Committal service at Woodlands Crematorium at 3:00pm.

There will be a wake in memory of Greg at The Duchess.
