We’ve been working with .nick following a severe fall at work where he had a double fracture of the Tibia & Fibula, subsequently he then had a stroke in hospital on the same day.

The strength and support from and the family has been incredible and we have progressed really well with our rehab plan so far. Especially when we were 6 months pregnant at the time.

Here are a few clips of our rehab journey so far, you’ve done amazing but we’re not finished yet 👊❤️

I found this video I posted on my stories a while ago from an “ask me anything” post. I’ve been meaning to edit it and make a post about it so here we are.

The question was what was that ribcage thing you posted about yesterday…

This is something I see so often in my clinic and can be the root cause of a so many problems in an athletic performance and lifting standpoint.

I will follow up on this with how this links to lifting and the methods I see people using in order to brace the core when lifting, and contributes to a lack of rotation in the torso limiting movement.

Also how I take my clients from this position and teach them to move better.

Do your ribs flare out?
Is your back constantly “tight”

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge completed over the weekend.

Thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and what a good challenge it is.

25.27 miles covered
1758m climbed
11h 24 minutes.

Fair play to Ally who struggled with an injury, I strapped it up and we adapted a few things - and he made it to the finish.

Great day out 👍

A great review from a recent client, Ollie Robinson . Ollie was struggling with Achilles tendonitis for a 3-4 weeks.

Happy to say we are back out running and training well.

Thanks for the review 🙌🙌

Helen came in to see me last week after struggling for some time following a severe Tibial plateau fracture (TPF) 2 years ago.

There are difficulties that come with this injury anyway but we also have to consider that we have also had a serious injury to the same hip.

We went through the history together and explained what is going on and mapped out a plan starting with laying some foundations of movement, key principles of rehab and strengthening some weak links ready for us to continue to build on.

No surprise that we are sore to the hip muscles because that is a key area for us to start with and that we need to rebuild alongside - in some areas before the knee.

A great start Helen, excited to see things progress as we start our rehab journey.

Thanks for the kind review.

🙌🙌

Elite level rehab involves a number of specialities, in order to take you through the phases of the rehab process and back to performing at your best.

There is so much more involved but here are three key areas I use with all my clients on their rehab journey.

1. Understanding the principles of your specific injury, how it happened and what are the key areas we need to improve on in order to prepare for the next phase.

Through a thorough assessment and various tests combined with a movement screening and analysis of how you move.

I always explain what is going on and show you visually what is not doing its job, via models and computer software so you know what to work on. You will be given homework and this is where the magic really happens.

2. Elite level hands on therapy, mobilisations and low level movement and strengthening exercises initially. Progressing to more advanced techniques and really testing these weak links. Massage and soft tissue manipulation IASTM using various tools to release any guarding or to free up areas that are stiff and restricted.

Massage alone is not rehab & Rehab is not just massage. The same goes any of the other adjuncts.

It is a journey of understanding what is not doing its job and then challenging these weak links to get better.

Alternatively a tight area can simply be a chronically lengthened area due to posture or positioning which will feel tight and that you need a massage to “release it” - understand what is needed for your body.

The body wants to recover its what it does. But if you are always tight in a certain area, you need to help by understanding the problem and by doing the work.

3. Understanding how to move exceptionally well, linking the force couplets around each joint or area of the body and linking the joints together to move well.

Any dysfunctions or restrictions can limit options and causing overload to adjacent areas. Strength and capacity are important factors.

If you have a tight area it is usually a weak area or an area that the body is locking down in a tight and guarded position until the neuromuscular system deems it strong enough to not need to be protected.

Hi I’m Chris,

I am a sport rehabilitator and have been running my rehab clinic for the last 15 years, initially based .c as first team head of rehabilitation.

Before moving to where I have been based for the last 8 years. More recently I have opened a second clinic based golf club.

Alongside my degree in sport rehabilitation my passion has always been for sport and in particular inline and ice hockey (which I have played for most of my life), training in the gym and more recently running and triathlon. Completing London, York and Manchester marathons I the last 2 years.

Currently I work with the on game day - pitch side rehabilitation.

I work with both elite athletes and the general public who may be struggling with injury and pain, helping them recover and improve their knowledge of movement. Helping them return to their sport, work and back to living life without pain or limitations to the things they want to do.

I also work with athletes helping them progress using my knowledge of biomechanics and movement and training systems and principles. For example how to become stronger, more explosive, faster, more robust against injury and all round better version of themselves.

For further information or to find out how I can help you see the next post or feel free to send me a message to discuss any injury or questions you may have.

Thanks very much

Chris

Injury, rehab and movement are multi factorial and they should be approached and treated in much the same way.

Systems and principles are one thing but we need to understand that not every injury is the same. Not everyone has the same starting point, for example posture, strength, mobility and training age can be vastly different from person to person.

We start with building foundations and progress by layering the next progressions on top when we are ready to do so.

As we progress through the rehab process I will show you the weak links you may have and help you rebuild them into strengths. So that we are far better than what you think of as back to"normal".

How can I help you?

The time has come to up my prices after not doing so for three + years. I have done that due to the cost of living issues going on but looking at others in this industry I have been severely undercharging for a long time.

The quality of the service I provide and the level of detail I work to are up there with the best out there. This is something I’ve been meaning to do for a few months now.

All new bookings from here onwards will be with the new pricing, and all existing sessions I have had booked in will be at my previous prices.

Thankyou to my awesome clients for your custom and continued support it really means a lot to me, and in return I hope i provide the quality & value that you deserve.

There is no magic pill to elite level rehab and training, you earn the right to progress by putting in the work.
My job is to give you the correct information and educate you to understated the process, then we as a team work on it together.

No quick click or crack here thanks

Chris
