☀️ Heat Safety Advice – Looking After Our Residents, Young and Old....
With the warmer weather arriving here in Scunthorpe, it’s important to take extra care in the heat – especially for the elderly and young children, who can be more vulnerable to high temperatures.
Here are some simple tips to help keep cool and safe:
💧 Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid too much caffeine or alcohol.
🌤 Stay Indoors During Peak Heat – Try to keep out of the sun between 11am–3pm, when it’s at its strongest.
🪟 Keep Cool Indoors – Use fans, keep curtains or blinds closed during the hottest part of the day, and open windows in the evening when it’s cooler.
👒 Dress Lightly – Wear loose, light-coloured clothing and a hat if going outside.
🥗 Eat Light Meals – Fresh fruit and salads are a great choice in hot weather.
🧴 Use Sunscreen – SPF 30+ for any time spent outdoors.
At The Valleys Care Home, we’ll be making sure everyone stays cool, comfortable, and well-hydrated – and we encourage families to keep these tips in mind for loved ones of all ages.
Let’s enjoy the sunshine safely! 🌞💛
