I often get asked if I have any ‘top tips’ to help people feel calmer, focussed and more positive.
There are lots of things we can do to help us feel this way that really work, acts of self care are super important.
However, my go to top tip is writing your positives down at the end of each day, pre sleep. There is such a huge benefit in this simple act.
It helps us produce the neurotransmitter, serotonin which is key in stabilising our mood and increasing the feeling of well-being and happiness.
You will need a note book or diary, a pen and leave them next to your bed.
🦋 When you’re nearly ready to go to sleep, think of between 3-5 positives of your day.
🦋 Write each of these down and as you do, put yourself back in that moment. Why were they a positive, what were you doing, where were you, who were you with? How did it make you feel, what could you see, smell, hear? Spend a few minutes on each one, really reliving the moment.
🦋 Once you’ve finished, it’s time to go straight to sleep.
The act of writing your positives down helps you to retrain your brain to think more positively. When you do this consistently for 21 days you’re reinforcing that there are positive things in your life and therefore you become happier. It’s like training a muscle, the more you train, the stronger it becomes.
