🦋 O u t & A b o u t 🦋

It is so lovely seeing the spring flowers out in bloom, their colours popping and springing into life 💐

When you are walking out and about look out for the little things that make you feel happy, positive and grateful.

When we experience happiness, positivity and gratitude, we produce the neurotransmitter Serotonin, referred to as the happy chemical, which contributes to our happiness and wellbeing.

What have you seen today that brought you happiness or something you have been grateful for?

🦋 A d m i n I n T h e S u n 🦋

I was just sat inside doing some work admin in between seeing my clients with my cuppa and suddenly thought, “Why am I sat inside when it’s beautiful outside?”.

It’s funny how we fall into patterns of behaviour isn’t it?

For the last few months I have had to sit inside doing my admin as it’s been too cold/wet to do it outside, this has become a habit. Subconsciously, I sat down at the dining room table because that’s what I’ve been doing.

Well, today, I’m changing that habit. I’ve sown a seed of change for this habit. From now, when I can, I’ll do this job outside in the sunshine, nature around me, some much needed vitamin d, listening to the birds singing and the world go about its day.

It’s really lovely!

What habits are you ready to change?

🦋 E v e r y D a y I s D i f f e r e n t 🦋

No two days are ever the same.

We do not wake up every morning with the same amount of energy. There are many factors which can determine how we feel each day.

If one day you wake up, full of energy you may feel like ticking some jobs off your list.

Another day your energy levels may be lower so doing your best that day will be different from the day before.

All you can do is take each day as it comes.
Be kind to yourself.
What does ‘doing your best’ look like that day.
Do not put too much pressure on yourself.
Take small steps each day to bring a sense of achievement with the energy you have on that particular day.

🦋 M a r c h 🦋

Not wanting to wish time away but I feel like we’re all ready for what March is going to bring.

Sunshine is much needed and if the blue skies and the golden ball in the sky can continue, it puts a spring in our step.

Watching the flowers bloom colours into our lives as we go about our days.

The blossom appearing on the trees as we gaze up towards the sky.

The lighter evenings give us a sense of time. More time in our day where it’s lighter for longer and the opportunity to watch some stunning sunsets (one of my favourite things to do).

May this new month energise you, bring you hope and shine on you.

I love this by Donna Ashworth she has a way of putting things into words so beautifully.

When you hear yourself say “I can’t” flip it to “I can”.

Take control of what you can do rather than focussing on what you can’t.

🦋 S u p e r v i s o n 🦋

I have to attend 6 hours of supervision a year in line with the ethical practises of the National Council for Hypnotherapy.

Supervision is an important part of my work. It helps to develop my skills as a therapist and of my therapy practise and gives me the opportunity to reflect on all aspects of my work.

I also get to see the other therapists which, when you run your own private practice is fab. Plus I get to sit and enjoy a cuppa at the sane time and i do love a cuppa!!

It is so incredibly important to me that I keep up to date with information surrounding what I do as this enables me to give my clients the best service I can possibly give them.

Being aware of this is super helpful. When I remind myself, I instantly unclench my jaw. It makes me think how often I must keep my jaw clenched and it’s not until it’s highlighted to you that you react.

We all hold tension in our body, commonly across the shoulders so I thought it would great to share this so you can follow this great advice.

Be aware and release ~

🦋 Soften your forehead.
🦋 Unclench your jaw.
🦋 Relax your shoulders.

Be mindful that your holding tension in your body is key. Maybe your feeling worried, stressed, overwhelmed or anxious.

During the day take regular moments to check in on yourself. Take some time to think about if your feeling tense, becoming aware of it and then taking these steps to help you feeling calmer.

❤️ L o v e ❤️

To love another, you must first love yourself. It starts with you.

Love yourself, deeply.

Say kind things to yourself, as you would a loved one.

Spend time ensuring your ok.

Do things that make you happy.

Take time out when you need to. Listen to your body, mind and heart.

So, a reminder that today isn’t just about couples. Let’s celebrate the love there is today and always.

🦋 T o p T i p 🦋

I often get asked if I have any ‘top tips’ to help people feel calmer, focussed and more positive.

There are lots of things we can do to help us feel this way that really work, acts of self care are super important.

However, my go to top tip is writing your positives down at the end of each day, pre sleep. There is such a huge benefit in this simple act.

It helps us produce the neurotransmitter, serotonin which is key in stabilising our mood and increasing the feeling of well-being and happiness.

You will need a note book or diary, a pen and leave them next to your bed.

🦋 When you’re nearly ready to go to sleep, think of between 3-5 positives of your day.

🦋 Write each of these down and as you do, put yourself back in that moment. Why were they a positive, what were you doing, where were you, who were you with? How did it make you feel, what could you see, smell, hear? Spend a few minutes on each one, really reliving the moment.

🦋 Once you’ve finished, it’s time to go straight to sleep.

The act of writing your positives down helps you to retrain your brain to think more positively. When you do this consistently for 21 days you’re reinforcing that there are positive things in your life and therefore you become happier. It’s like training a muscle, the more you train, the stronger it becomes.

🦋 H o p e 🦋

I saw these beautiful daffodils the other day. Yellow is my favourite colour and they really caught my eye, so of course I had to take a photo.

Seeing these daffodils made me think of hope.

When you look up the meaning of hope, Wikipedia states ~

‘Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large. As a verb, its definitions include: “expect with confidence”.

Today, I bring you HOPE.
