🧠 Stress Awareness Week is here.

This year’s HSE campaign “Time to act on work-related stress” reminds us that work-related stress is one of the leading causes of ill health at work – and that preventing it is a legal duty.

Every one of us experiences pressure — But when that pressure becomes overwhelming or constant, it can take a real toll on our health and wellbeing.

HSE reminds us that addressing stress isn’t just a personal responsibility — it’s a shared one. Employers, managers, and colleagues all have a role to play in making work a healthier, safer space.

This week is National Stress Awareness Week — a reminder to pause and check in on our well-being.

At work, we often focus on deadlines and results — but our people’s energy, resilience, and sense of belonging matter just as much.

Here are three simple ways to manage stress:
1️⃣ Pause & Reflect – Identify what’s causing stress and what can be let go.
2️⃣ Take Micro-Breaks – A short walk, deep breaths, or a quick chat can reset your mind.
3️⃣ Support Each Other – Create space for open, honest conversations.
Let’s commit to success that includes well-being — for ourselves and our teams. 💙

👨‍💼 👨‍🎓 👨‍🔧 👨‍🏭 👨‍⚖️ 👨‍🍳 👨‍🔬

Every November is home to Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. Men experience disproportionately high-rates of su***de, with death by su***de being the biggest killer of men under the age of 50 in the UK.

If you’re struggling with your mental health, you’re not alone. It might seem like talking about it makes you weak, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. There’s plenty of support out there, and if you’re not sure where to start, learn about mental health conditions or see what help is out there locally to you. If you’re experiencing suicidal thoughts, seek professional support.

📢 Stepped towers. Stairway access towers. Towers on stairs.

They go by many names—but they all serve the same purpose: providing safe, stable access in the places it's hardest to reach.

Whether you’re working on staircases, multi-level spaces, or uneven terrain, these towers are essential for jobs like painting and decorating, maintenance and repair, overhead installations, and more.

Join us on our PASMA Towers on Stairways training course on Thursday 6th November at our training centre in Seaham. To book, call 0191 5818400 or email info@s-safety.co.uk

It’s National Scaffolding Week and this week we’re celebrating the scaffolders, safety leaders, and construction pros who keep every site safe and standing tall.

This week is all about skill, safety, and success — because every tube, fitting, and inspection counts.

💬 Did you know?
Most scaffold incidents can be prevented with regular inspections and awareness — the very heart of Scaffold Safety Week.

We are running a 2-Day Scaffold Inspection Course at our training centre in Seaham on 27th and 28th November. This course is to help scaffolders, supervisors, and site managers spot hazards, stay compliant, and keep every build safer.

Don't let LOLER catch you off guard!

Every lift comes with risk — and under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), the law says your team must know how to lift safely, inspect properly, and keep records that prove compliance.

That’s where Seaham Safety Services comes in.
